While strolling along in the country reviewing the scenes new and old
I found an old fashioned log cabin so beautiful there to behold
A stranger was standing in silence his eyes firmly fixed on the door

Many years an old couple so patiently looked for their boy whose last promise did fail

Have you ever heard the story of the pride of Little Big Horn
Right from the lips of someone that saw
Well I was there on that cold and fateful morning
Watched General Custer and the bloody masacre

There were muskets arrows cannonballs a flyin'
Yellin' screamin' a lot of men were dyin'
There at the Little Big Horn

There were one thousand Indians standing on the river bank
Two hundred Calvary waited there with pride
And I saw chief Crazy Horse leader of the Indians
Old Genral Custer with his musket by his side
Then Crazy Horse started things with a yell
That shattered the quiet of the early morn
General Custer gave out a mighty mighty roar
And they met at the Little Big Horn

There were muskets arrows cannonballs a flyin'...

Of the one thousand Indians there on the river bank
Five hundred Indians died in the fight
And the brave Calvary that had fought there that morning
Two hundred men not a single one survived

Dad's old faded trousers and mama's old crept dress
Are not much in the passions now they can't afford the best
I know they feel neglected and sometimes in the way
Because the last time I was home I heard my mother say

You've all got families of your own now that all your friends did mar

We still have the old home place we paid it off last year

Now we've seen the rainstorms flood our fields and wash our crops away
Then the droughts would come to follow this and last for days and days
Why point in me is work in the fields when that old sun was hot as fire
