An Old Log Cabin For Sale

J.W. Payte

© Bridge Building Music, BMI

While strolling along in the country reviewing the scenes new and old
I found an old fashioned log cabin so beautiful there to behold
A stranger was standing in silence his eyes firmly fixed on the door
My heart ached in pity to see him for these were the words that it bore

And the sign read An Old Log Cabin For Sale an oaken bucket and well
Easy terms just keep a log on the fire and a light burning bright in the dell
Many years an old couple so patiently looked for their boy whose last promise did fail
Now the old rocking chair will be rocking no more there's an old log cabin for sale
[ instrumental ]
A welcome I read on the floormat an old braided rug by the door
The hands of an angel had made it with many a prayer prayed before
In an old rocking chair on she waited for one glimpse of him how she yearned
And now he was standing in silence too late yes too late he'd returned

And the sign read An Old Log Cabin For Sale an oaken bucket and well...
(There's no place like home)

Dear Lonesome

Roger Miller

© Tree Pub, BMI

Dear lonesome with a broken heart
If I could write myself a letter here's how I would start
Dear lonesome with a broken heart
How are things since she has left you has your whole world fell apart
Dear lonesome with a broken heart

In answer to this letter I'd say yes it's very true
No lonely heart in all the world could feel the way I do
If I could write myself a letter here's how I would start
Dear lonesome with a broken heart
[ instrumental ]
In answer to this letter I'd say yes it's very true...

Your Love

Porter Wagoner - Chet Atkins - Lew Williams

© Tree Pub, BMI

Look in my eyes let me see your love
Give me your hand let me feel your love
With you in my arms your breath on my cheek
And your kiss on my lips
Ooh I can feel your love

Whisper to me let me hear your love
Stay near to me let me feel your love
I don't know why guess I would die if I ever lost you
Ooh let me feel your love
[ instrumental ]
Sometimes I'm weak a new thrill I seek
Must be the devil in me
Please understand let me feel your love

Our Song Of Love

Earl Green - Carl Montgomery - Earl Montgomery

© Newkeys Music, BMI

Love is a feeling keeps me reeling on and on
From now on blues are gone
We are as happy as two love birds in the spring
As they sings their songs of love

Birds are singing songs of love in the treetops up above
Those two birds could never be as much in love as you and me
Hearts that are blessed with happiness eternally
Will always be our song of love
[ instrumental ]
Love is a feeling keeps me reeling on and on...

Everything She Touches Gets The Blues

Whitney Bour - Eugene Kinsey

© Unichappell Music, BMI

My baby left me this morning
Wore her brand new walking shoes
I don't know where she is going
Everything she touches is the blues

Wonder what she'll name our baby
Someone else is helping her to choose
I only know my heart is broken
Everything she touches is the blues
[ instrumental ]
Yes my baby left me this morning...
Everything she touches is the blues

The Battle Of Little Big Horn

Nancy Chase

© Tree Pub, BMI

Have you ever heard the story of the pride of Little Big Horn
Right from the lips of someone that saw
Well I was there on that cold and fateful morning
Watched General Custer and the bloody masacre

There were muskets arrows cannonballs a flyin'
Yellin' screamin' a lot of men were dyin'
There at the Little Big Horn

There were one thousand Indians standing on the river bank
Two hundred Calvary waited there with pride
And I saw chief Crazy Horse leader of the Indians
Old Genral Custer with his musket by his side
Then Crazy Horse started things with a yell
That shattered the quiet of the early morn
General Custer gave out a mighty mighty roar
And they met at the Little Big Horn

There were muskets arrows cannonballs a flyin'...

Of the one thousand Indians there on the river bank
Five hundred Indians died in the fight
And the brave Calvary that had fought there that morning
Two hundred men not a single one survived

There were muskets arrows cannonballs a flyin'...
There at the Little Big Horn there at the Little Big Horn

Tomorrow We'll Retire

Red Hayes

© Tree Pub, BMI

Dad's old faded trousers and mama's old crept dress
Are not much in the passions now they can't afford the best
I know they feel neglected and sometimes in the way
Because the last time I was home I heard my mother say

Well you kids have all got married off now and left us by ourselves
My we didn't know what lonesome was until the last one have left
You've all got families of your own now that all your friends did mar
Now that we've seen our dreams come true tomorrow we'll retire

We still have the old home place we paid it off last year
And we don't owe a soul a dime now everything is clear
So we'll just relive our younger days and sit here by the fire
And if we both live through the night tomorrow we'll retire

Now we've seen the rainstorms flood our fields and wash our crops away
Then the droughts would come to follow this and last for days and days
Why point in me is work in the fields when that old sun was hot as fire
But that's all in the furthest past tomorrow we'll retire

In health we've both been lucky but now we're gettin' kinda great
Our pensions starts tomorrow it's just enough to our way
We've lived to see you kids grow up and that's been our heart's desire
And if the world would end tonight tomorrow we'll retire so tomorrow we'll retire
