(Bluegrass heaven I'm comin' home)
Kentucky sunshine Kentucky rain
I'm gonna see my Kentucky once again
Hello Kentucky I sure do love Thee
Just like a puppy dog loves a bone
My little bluegrass heaven please listen while I tell you
Seven good reasons why I'm comin' home
Kentucky sunshine Kentucky rain
Let me hear it now
Kentucky nights Kentucky days
Come on sing it one more time
Bluegrass livin' love and forgivin'
Last but not least my Kentucky baby
And so Kentucky it's you I'm trustin'
Just like the pretty little girl I love
We're gonna settle down in a bluegrass town
Here's seven good reasons why I'm hangin' around
Kentucky sunshine Kentucky rain
Come on sing it
Kentucky nights Kentucky days
Let me hear it now one more time
Bluegrass livin' love and forgivin'
Last but not least my Kentucky baby
[ instrumental ]

(Listen) to a broken heart trying hard to beat
(Listen) to the sound it makes when it shatters at your feet
(Listen) to the crying sobs of a broken beaten fool
(Listen) that's one thing I didn't do
You warned me so many times but I didn't hear
Why did I look around for love when I had so much love so near
Over and over you told me you'd leave me someday
But sweetheart I didn't listen to a word you had to say
(Listen) to a broken heart trying hard to beat...

Take it to the Lord in prayer
I've been singin' in barrooms all my life
I've lost a good family a lovin' wife
Everything's gonna be alright
I had a talk with the man last night
It was just another smalltown bar
Why I don't think anybody even noticed as I pack up and put away my guitar
Got in my car and started that long lonesome drive to next town
I've been tryin' to make the big time now for so long
Well I know I got talent but I must be doin' somethin' wrong
Cause all of my friends say that there's people on top that can't sing half as good as me
Then all of a sudden that ole car just seemed to come alive
And I heard a strange voice that I didn't recognize
And somebody reached over and turned the radio way down on low
The voice said I'll tell you what you're doin' wrong
Well I give you the talent to sing and you ain't never sung one of my songs
And I bet I've got a list of people that I've made famous a mile long
Why some of my best friends are Grand Ole Opry stars
They asked me for a little help and I helped get 'em where they are
And I guess they've gone just about as far as any singer could ever hope to go
What a beautiful thought I am thinkin'
Hank remembered to sing I Saw The Light I Saw The Light
And Red Foley touched the hearts with Peace In The Valley
And once more a fallin' star is shinin' bright
It was in the darkness just before dawn
That's where he showed me where I went wrong
But everything's gonna be alright
I had a talk with the man last night

Darlin' dearest darlin'
Put your arms around me baby please
Darlin' dearest darlin'
Kiss me one more time before you leave
If you must go be on your way
Before I start and beggin' you to stay with me
I'm gettin' weak from being strong
And first thing that you know I'll be down on my knees
Darlin' dearest darlin'
Always in my heart and in my thoughts
Darlin' dearest darlin'
Have been loved you once I'll never stop
Darlin' dearest darlin'
Put your arms around me baby please

She'll love you to pieces
But she won't put you together again
She's got what it takes and she'll take you
To the top of the world with her touch
But all that she wants from you Mister
Is to use you and she'll use you all up
I'm the last guy that she loved to pieces
And my heart was like clay in her hands
She loved me so much that she left me
In pieces the shell of a man
She says I could love you to pieces
Man you'd better believe her she can
She'll love you to pieces
But she won't put you together again

That ole love is a back again she's got me a drinkin' again
She started me to thinkin' again so here we go again
She showed up night before last
and brought back a memories from the past
Started me to livin' fast so here we go again
That ole love is a back again she's got me a drinkin' again...
[ instrumental ]
She's got me a walkin' the streets at night a wonderin' if I'm alright
Stayin' up until daylight so here we go again
That ole love is a back again she's got me a drinkin' again...
[ instrumental ]
Well I went into work today the boss fired me right away
He said you don't work you don't draw no pay here we go again
Well that ole love is a back again she's got me a drinkin' again...

Sweet honky tonk wine keeps me out of my mind
All she left behind was some of that sweet a honky tonk wine
While I was out drinkin' and laughin' my woman was home a packin'
And all she left me was a bottle and a note
Sayin' I enjoyed myself on some of that sweet a honky tonk wine
Sweet honky tonk wine keeps me out of my mind...
I said I'm sittin' here feelin' empty as that ole bottle she left me
Cause I can't drink enough to stop me from thinkin'
that she's out holdin' somebody and a drinkin' that honky tonk wine
Give me some of that sweet a honky tonk wine
Cause it always keeps me out of my mind
Let me tell you now all she left behind
Was some of that sweet a honky tonk wine
Give me that sweet a honky tonk wine
Some more of that sweet a honky tonk wine

If I neglect to show you how much I love you remind me
Cause I'm just a man and a man does forget so remind me
If there's a look on my face like I'm a million miles away
And you think there's no way your love can find me
Darling touch me and that's all I need to remind me
If I've been working too much and you need a night out just remind me
cause without you there's no reason for me to work at all so remind me
And sometimes if I tend to be more husband than friend
By not bein' just a little more understanding
Darling touch me and that's all I need to remind me
Draw back the curtains of my past now and then
Show me without you where I might have been
Anytime I fail in someway
To tell you just how happy you make me when you're around me
Darling touch me and that's all I need to remind me

She's knows she's holdin' someone who don't love her
She knows she's where you could have been
She knows I turn to her because you turned me down
And she knows when you're on my mind again
Sometimes late at night I hear her crying
She turns to me but you won't let her in
She knows the door is locked but she keeps trying
And she knows when you're on my mind again
Every night she opens up the door to heaven
And when you're on my mind I can't go in
You come running through my mind and I let my mem'ry chase you
And she knows when you're on my mind again
[ instrumental ]
And she knows when you're on my mind again

I want her now but it's too late her love is turning to hate
And I sure need her now
I done her wrong for so long her love's almost gone
And I sure need her now
I didn't want her before now she's closing love's door
I walked on the wrong side of life until now
I'm on the right side of the line but now she's changing her mind
And I sure need her now
[ instrumental ]
I'm afraid that any day she'll turn to me and say
That she just don't need me now
But I'll stay on my knees till the day that she leaves
And I sure need her now
I didn't want her before...

I work on that mountain cuttin' the timber
I work till my fingers are sore
Cuttin' the timber that goes through the sawmill
To build another honky tonk floor
While down in that valley she's spending my money
A really havin' herself a ball
Spending the money that I made from cuttin' timber
To build another honky tonk wall
[ instrumental ]
Early each mornin' I'm back on that mountain
Wishing her lies were the truth
Cuttin' the timber that goes through the sawmill
To build another honky tonk roof
But tonight it's all over I'm through cuttin' timber
I know right where she'll be found
I'm gonna look inside that window and if she's in there
I'm gonna burn another honky tonk down
I'm gonna burn another honky tonk down
