Come on and walk with me Jesus take my hand
Precious Lord help me understand
When darkness falls I want to take my stand
Precious Lord take my hand
I know a man and his name is Jesus
And he washed away my sins
And he started life as a lonely carpenter
And ended as a fisherman
And he came along and he passed out his glory
He cleansed my dirty soul
So precious Jesus take my hand
Help me make myself help me make myself
Help me make myself whole
Come on and walk with me Jesus take my hand...
Come on and walk with me Jesus take my hand...
Come on and walk with me Jesus take my hand...

Sittin' here and thinkin' bout you so far away
Wonderin' what you're thinkin' wonderin' what you'd say
If you were sittin' here beside me you're alone beside me
Used to be so good with you baby it's holiday now
What am I gonna do girl what am I gonna do
I love you so much what am I gonna do
But you left me here alone said it all takes time
I should keep the place together keep everything in line
Why won't you're sittin' here beside me you're alone beside me
Till you come back to me baby
What am I gonna do girl what am I gonna do...
What am I gonna do girl what am I gonna do...
Oh yeah ooh ooh ooh ooh
What am I gonna do girl what am I gonna do...
What am I gonna do girl what am I gonna do...

A little baby's born daddy's up and gone
You see his mama cry
Don't you turn away she's needin' you today
To help her dry her eyes
All God's lonely children sometimes lose their ways
All God's lonely children need your love today
Met a little man reachin' out his hand
He's reachin' out for you
Won't you take his hand help him understand
And try to see him through
All God's lonely children sometimes lose their ways...
People people people people people
Love my people my endless people
It's in your heart and in your hands
Open up your heart and reach out your hands
And then you'll begin to understand
Why all God's lonely children sometimes lose their ways...
People people people people people people

Travelin' down on different roads tryin' hard to leave the load
We take it there but we can't let go it's so hard to lay it down
Back in Eden we were tried found ourselves dis-satisfied
Seekin' wisdom that she denied tryin' hard to lay it down
Lay it down brother lay it down so hard to lay it down
Hide in me confide in me don't you think it's time to be
Everything we tried to be you and me should lay it down
Speak to me be unashamed there's no time for playing games
After all we're all the same just tryin' hard to lay it down
Lay it down brother lay it down so hard to lay it down
Lay it down brother lay it down so hard to lay it down
Wish my words could make it well wish that I might break the shell
Take us from ourself made hell to find a way to lay it down
Burdened by the things I've learned hurtin' because I'm too concerned
Nonetheless I confess I yearn to find a way to lay it down
Oh oh oh oh so hard to lay it down
Oh oh oh oh so hard to lay it down
Oh oh oh oh so hard to lay it down

Oh Lord I wish I had never been stoned
Cause when I get high I can't leave the women alone
Omaha sheriff and his boys gettin' ready for slaughter
Lookin' for the man that turned on the mayor's daughter
Omaha honey had a hold on a hell of a thing
Down in a hollow every evening you could hear her sing
She said a funky but showed me the Tulsa Turnaround
Stepped on my toes turned me on and turned me down
Fit me like a hand in a glove taught me how to love y'all
Five miles of road between me and my house
A rosy-throat sheriff and his deputy trackin' me down
Well I wish I was back at Macon takin' it easy
But if a man's gonna eat fried chicken he's got to be greasy
Omaha honey had a hold on a hell of a thing...
[ instrumental ]
Omaha honey had a hold on a hell of a thing...

She's young and soft and kind and she deserves a whole lot better
Than a guitar picking drifter who never gave a damn
And if loving me is all she ever wants some gonna let her
And I've tried to be the kind of man she thinks I am
She makes those little kitten sounds and trembles when I love her
She makes me feel so bad and strong in me
She whispers how she can not wait to be my baby's mother
She's the only glimpse of God I've ever seen
Her mama sure had warned her never take out with a poet
For poets travel rocky roads in search of truth and life
I'm the only blemish on her virgin soul but she don't know it
And I thank the Lord she's lying gentle by my side tonight

Don't look so sad I know it's over
But life goes on and this old world just keeps on turning
Let's just be glad we had this time to spend together
There's no need to watch the bridges that we're burning
Lay your head on my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body next to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops beating soft against the window
And make believe you love me one more time
For the good times
I'll get along you'll find another
And I'll be here if you should find you ever need me
Don't say a word about tomorrow or forever
There'll be time enough for sadness when you leave me
Lay your head on my pillow...

Once I met a lady
My first for I was younger then
And now she feels a baby
Was a cold wind from the south
But what's it all about
In a week of constant Mondays
I will set sail on Friday
And honeysuckle sorrow
Let's go where the olives grow
Good lady of Toronto
Well I wish I was the baby there inside her
And I wish I had a day to lay beside her
And if I had my poems I'd recite to her
And I'd light a friendly candle when she's gone
Well I wish I was the baby there inside her...
Once I met a lady
My first for I was younger then
And honeysuckle sorrow
Let's go where the olives grow
Good lady of Toronto

Two little boys had two little toys each had a wooden horse
Gaily they played each summer day warriors both of course
One little chap had a mishap and broke off his horse's head
Wept for his toy and cried out with joy as his young playmate said
Did you think I could leave you crying when there's room on my horse for two
Climb up Jack and don't be crying I can go just as fast with two
When we grow up we'll be soldiers and our horses will not be toys
And I wonder if we'll remember when we were two little boys
Long years past war came so fast one fought the blue the other gray
Cannons roared loud and and in the mad crowd wounded and dying there
Out comes a shot a horse dashes out out from the ranks so blue
And it gallops away to where Joe lay then came the voice he knew
Did you think I could leave you dying when there's room on my horse for two
Climb up Joe we'll soon be flying I can go just as fast with two
Do you say Joe I'm all a tremble well perhaps is the battle noise
But I think it's that I remember when we were two little boys
