Another Hot Day In The South

There's haze hangin' in the morning light
So thick you can cut it with a knife
Clings to your skin soon's you step outside
But you can't stay locked up in the house
Oh no it's just another hot day in the south

Stray dog pantin' with his tongue hangin' low
Lookin' for water everywhere he goes
Sleeps in the shade dreamin' of snow
But that don't mean he's down in the mouth
He knows it's just another hot day in the south

Baby put your hair up and I'll make some iced tea
Let's sit out on the front porch and try to catch a breeze
Sip it slow and hold that cold wet glass to your brow
And feel the sweet relief tricklin' down

Storm clouds boomin' in the sky overhead
It'll rain just enough to get everything wet
Humidity's sittin' at a hundred percent
It's something you can't get around
So slow down it's just another hot day in the south

After dinner by the light of the moon
You and me, peach ice cream and a couple of spoons
Katydids'll sing us a summertime tune
While the fireflies dance all around
And we'll say goodnight to another hot day in the south
Goodnight it's just another hot day in the south
