If We Make It Through December

Merle Haggard

© Shade Tree Music, BMI

If we make it through December
Everything's gonna be all right I know
It's the coldest time of winter
And I shiver when I see the falling snow

If we make it through December
Got plans to be in a warmer town come summertime
Maybe even California
If we make it through December we'll be fine

Got laid off down at the factory
And the time is not the greatest in the world
Heaven knows I've been working hard
Wanted Christmas to be right for daddy's girl

I don't mean to hate December
It's meant to be the happy time of year
And my little girl don't understand
Why daddy can't afford no Christmas here

If we make it through December...

Santa Claus And Popcorn

Merle Haggard

© Shade Tree Music, BMI

Santa Claus and popcorn
Jingle bells and reindeer horns
Christmas trees and mistletoe
Jesus loves me this I know

Carols singing Silent Night
Crosby dreams of Christmas white
We celebrate cause the King was born
With Santa Claus and popcorn

Children dancing round the tree
Sleigh bells ringing merrily
Snowballs flying through the air
Happiness is everywhere

Carols singing Silent Night...
Santa Claus and popcorn...
Santa Claus and popcorn...
Carols singing Silent Night

Bobby Wants A Puppy Dog For Christmas

Merle Haggard

© Shade Tree Music, BMI

Bobby wants a puppy dog for Christmas
I know you plan to bring electric train
Bobby wants a puppy dog for Christmas
That's the only song we hear him sing

Santa please remember Bobby's lonely
The closest neighbor's farm is quite a ways
And the country school don't have no children Bobby's size
And I'd like to give him something he can raise

And Bobby wants a puppy dog for Christmas
I know you plan to bring electric train
But Bobby wants a puppy dog for Christmas
And that's the only song we hear him sing

Butch and Susie won't be here for Christmas
And he won't see his cousins now till spring
If we can find a playmate he can play with
Santa that'll be all you have to bring

And Bobby wants a puppy dog for Christmas...

Daddy Won't Be Home Again For Christmas

Merle Haggard

© Shade Tree Music, BMI

Daddy won't be home again for Christmas
But I just hope that this little check will fit
Daddy won't be home again for Christmas
But maybe this will serve to let you know I don't forget

The Christmas tree where I'll be won't be lighted
But the rain and cold will let me know December's here
Forgive me for the letters I don't answer
But I keep thinkin' I'll be home again each year

But daddy won't be home again for Christmas
But here's hoping that this little check will fit
Daddy won't be home again for Christmas
But maybe this will serve to let you know I don't forget

I know Santa Claus won't bring you all the things you need
But maybe he'll be kinder if he knows
That I won't be home this year to play the famous role
And besides I must depend to wear his clothes

Daddy won't be home again for Christmas...

Grandma's Christmas Card

Merle Haggard

© Shade Tree Music, BMI

The family once received a homemade Christmas card
And everyone was thrilled to read the verse inside
Cause every line was perfect like the way it should be
And grandma's name was neatly signed with pride

It simply read my prayers and thoughts are with you
And all my Christmas wishes are for real
I'm just good enough at poetry to make it rhyme
And to also let you know the way I feel

Grandma's homemade Christmas card from long ago
Hangs proudly in the tree top with the tinsel snow
It's the only Christmas card that we keep from year to year
Yeah grandma's homemade Christmas card is always here

White Christmas

Irving Berlin

© Irving Berlin Music, ASCAP

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
[ instrumental ]
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

Silver Bells

Ray Evans - Jay Livingston

© Famous Music, ASCAP

City sidewalks busy sidewalks dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas
Children laughing people passing meeting smile after smile
And on every street corner you hear

Silver bells silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring a ling hear them ring
Soon it will be Christmas Day

Strings of street lights even stop lights blink a bright red and green
As the shoppers rush home with their treasures
Hear the snow crush see the kids bunch
This is Santa's big day and above all the bustle you hear

Silver bells silver bells...
Silver bells silver bells...

Winter Wonderland

Felix Bernard - Dick Smith

© Bregman-Vocco-Conn Music, ASCAP

Sleigh bells ring are you listening in the lane snow is glistening
A beautiful sight we're happy tonight walking in the winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebirds and here to stay is a newbird
He sings a love song as he goes along walking in the winter wonderland

In the meadow we can build the snowman we'll pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say are you merry we'll say no man but you can do the job here in town
Later on we'll conspire as we dream by the fire
The face on the frame the plans that we made walking in the winter wonderland
[ instrumental ]
In the meadow we can build the snowman we'll pretend that he is Sacos Clown
We'll have lots of fun with Mr Snowman until the other kiddies knock him down
Later on we'll conspire as we dream by the fire
The face on the frame the plans that we made walking in the winter wonderland
A ring a ling oh ring a ling

Franz Gruber - Joseph Mohr

© Educational Graphics Press, BMI

Silent night holy night all is calm all is bright
Round young virgin mother and child holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace sleep in heavenly peace

(Silent night holy night shepherds quake at the sight)
Glories stream from heaven afar heavenly hosts sing hallelujah
Christ the Saviour is born Christ the Saviour is born

Jingle Bells

James Pierpont

© Springfield Music, BMI

Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh

Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way...

Dashing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go laughing all the way
Bells on bobtail ring making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight

Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way...
[ instrumental ]
Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way...
Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way...
