Come Saturday Morning

Dory Langdon - Fred Karlin

© Famous Music, ASCAP

Come Saturday morning
I'm going away with my friend
We'll Saturday spend to the end of the day

Just I and my friend
We'll travel for miles in our Saturday smiles
And then we'll move on
But we will remember long after Saturday's gone

You know what the trouble is
Trouble is that probably all the good things in life
Take place in no more than a minute
I mean all I did I bet you at the end of seventy years should you lose someone
You can sit down you can figure the whole thing out
You spent nineteen years sleepin'
Spent five years goin' to the bathroom
Spent thirty-five years doin' some kinda work you absolutely hated
Spent seven thousand eight hundred and fifty-three minutes blinkin' your eyes
And added to that you got that one minute of good things
Then one day you wonder whether you're minute's up

And then we'll move on
But we will remember long after Saturday's gone

Raggedy Ann And Raggedy Andy

Alan Bergman - Marilyn Keith Bergman - Larry Marks

© La Brea Music, ASCAP

A Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy were fashioned one day
From one little pile of rags
Just a pile of rags and a small painted on smile

Oh Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy had hair that was made
From one little ball of yarn
Just a ball of yarn in the same moppity style

Even the buttons used for their eyes
Came from the same old box full of buttons
Buttons for eyes round with surprise at seeing

A Raggedy friend with raggedy feelings exactly like yours
A someone for you to love
Made for you to love with your whole raggedy heart

They dangled their legs they dreamed of a nursery
With children and toys and one sunny little shelf
Just a little shelf they could share never to part

Ready for Christmas freckles and all oh what a pair
When they're in the toy store
One day a child looked up and smiled at seeing

A raggedy friend with raggedy feelings exactly like his
A someone for him to love
Made for him to love with his whole raggedy heart

Then Raggedy Ann saw Raggedy Andy put into a box
And tied with a ribbon bow
Where oh where was he going on a lonely shelf
Dangling by herself she would never know

Leaving On A Jet Plane

John Denver

© Cherry Lane Music, ASCAP

Darling all my bags are packed I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside the door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
Well the dawn is breaking it's early morn
My taxi's waitin' blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could cry

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe I hate to go

Now the time has come to leave you
One more time let me kiss you
Then you close your eyes I'll be on my way
Every place I'll go I'll think of you
Every song I'll sing I'll sing for you
When I come back I'll wear your wedding ring

So kiss me and smile for me...

Leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again

The Wailing Of The Willow

Harry Nilsson - Ian Freebairn

© Dunbar Music, BMI

Oh listen to the wailing of the willow
Listen to me crying on my pillow
Cryin' cause I know my love has gone from me
Living in a world of different places
Staring at a million different faces
Yet I see his face in every face I see

Oh love must lack a sense of humor
It laughs when other people cry
Oh love would love to hear the rumor
That you and I have finally said goodbye

I know that every heart was made for breaking
And my love was ready for the taking
Still I won't complain for someday love will call again
Must I take a memory as a token
To replace a heart that love has broken
Will the wailing willow always weep for me

Must I see his face in every face I see
Listen to the wailing of the willow tree
Listen to the wailing of the willow tree

Nevertheless (I'm In Love With You)

Bert Kalmar - Harry Ruby

© Chappell Co, ASCAP

Oh maybe I'm right and maybe I'm wrong
And maybe I'm weak and maybe I'm strong
But nevertheless I'm in love with you

Maybe I'll win and maybe I'll lose
And maybe I'm in for cryin' the blues
But nevertheless I'm in love with you

Somehow I knew at a glance the terrible chance that I'm taking
I'm fine at the start then stop with a heart that is breaking
Heart it's breaking

Maybe I'll live a life of regret
And maybe I'll give much more than I get
But nevertheless I'm in love with you

Ah somehow I know at a glance the terrible chance that I'm taking
Oh I'm taking
I was fine at the start now I'm stuck with a heart that is aching
Breaking

Maybe I'll live a life of regret
And maybe I'll give much more than I get
But nevertheless I'm in love I'm in love with you

Wherefore And Why

Gordon Lightfoot

© Early Morning Music, SESAC

When I woke this morning something inside of me
Told me this would be my day
I saw the morning train I felt the wind change
Too many times I'm on my way

Come on sunshine what can you show me
Where can you take me to let me understand
The wind can shake me brothers forsake me
The rain can touch me but can I touch the rain

I saw the sunrise above the cotton sky
Just like a candy cane delight
I saw the milkman I saw the business man
I saw the only road in sight

Then I got to thinking what makes you wanna go
To know the wherefore and the why
So many times now oh Lord I can't remember
If it's September or July

Come on sunshine what can you show me...
[ instrumental ]
All at once it came to me I saw the wherefore
And you can see it if you try
It's in the sun above it's in the one you love
You'll never know the reason why

Come on sunshine what can you show me...
So much to lose so much to gain

Love Story

Randy Newman

© January Music, BMI

I like your mother I like your brother
I like you and you like me too
We'll get a preacher you'll buy a ring
We'll hire a band with an accordion a violin
And a tenor who can sing

You and me you and me babe
You and me you and me you and me babe
You and me you and me you and me babe
You and me you and me you and me babe

We'll have a kid or maybe we'll rent one
He's gotta be straight we don't want a bent one
He'll drink his baby brew from a big brass cup
Someday he might be president if thing's loosen up

You and me you and me babe...

You'll take a train into the city every morning
I may be plain but you think I'm pretty in the morning
Some nights we'll go out dancing if you are not too tired
Some nights we'll sit romancin' watchin' the late show by the fire

When our kids are grown with kids of their own
Send us away to a little home in Florida
We'll play checkers every day till we pass away

(You and me babe you and me
You and me babe you and me)

On A Slow Boat To China

Frank Loesser

© Frank Music, ASCAP

I'd like to get you on a slow boat to China
All to myself alone
To get you and keep you in my arms evermore
Leave all your worries waitin' on a faraway shore

Out on the briny with the moon big and shinny
Melting your heart of stone
I'd like to get you on a slow boat to China
All to myself alone
[ instrumental ]
Oh baby I'd like to get you on a slow boat to China
All to myself alone
To myself alone
All to myself alone

Don't Let Me Lose This Dream

Ted White - Aretha Franklin

© 14th Hour Music, BMI

Believe that what I say is true
I'm the one and only girl for you
No matter what the people say
I'm in your arms all the way

And I won't lose this dream
Baby baby hold on
Don't let me lose my dream
Baby baby be strong

If I lose this dream
I don't know what I'm gonna do
If I lose this dream
I'm dreaming about for me and you

If it goes away I might as well hang it up
Cause I don't know if I have the heart or mind
To make it last or help it grow
And I only know I only know I only know
[ instrumental ]
Don't let me lose this dream
Baby baby hold on
Don't let me lose my dream
Baby baby be strong

You believe that what I say is true
You know that I'm the only girl for you
No matter what the people say
I'm in your arms I'm in your arms all the way

And I won't lose this dream
Baby baby hold on
Don't let me lose this dream
Baby baby be strong
Don't let me lose this dream

Simon

Peter Allen

© Sunbury Music, BMI

Thinking back through time and space
I recall another place
Crooked teeth and funny face but he was there
Simon was kind to me Simon Simon was kind to me

Winding roads endless walks
Telling me his dreams his thoughts
Every day was something new for us to share
And Simon was kind to me Simon Simon was kind to me

So it didn't hurt to have no friends
Cause I pinned my hopes on him
When I'd call he'd come he'd never let me down
Simon stood so straight so tall
I never had a doubt at all
That Simon would be there forever ever

I got a call from him today
Seems that Simon's run away
With the only girl he ever loved
He just called to tell me so
I'm his dearest friend you know
And how much I would like her
And how much she'd like me
And would I come and visit when I'm free
Simon was kind to me Simon Simon was kind to me

Mac Arthur Park / Didn't We

Jim Webb

© Canopy Music, ASCAP

There will be another song for me and I will sing it
There will be another dream for me someone will bring it
I will taste the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking in the sun
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life you'll still be the one

I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have my desires and my passions fall like ribbons through the sky
But after all the loves of my life after all the loves of my life
I'll be thinking of you and wondering why

This time we almost made the pieces fit
Didn't we
This time we almost made some sense of it
Didn't we
Oh this time I had the answer right here in my hand
Then I touched it and it had turned to sand

This time we almost sang our song in tune
Didn't we
This time we almost made it right to the moon
Oh didn't we
This time we almost made our poem rhyme
Then this time we almost made that long hard climb
Didn't we almost make it this time
