And I own the best loose rope in the whole fifty states
A big trophy buckle and boots that is blue

Well it's the middle of winter at the big Denver show
Hadamoe's my rope horse and three feet of snow
But I don't cuss nor grumble and I don't sing the blues
Cause I'm sure to get rich if I can just pay my dues

I've got a bum shoulder and my knee's kinda bad
But I wouldn't take a million for the fun that I've had

Tucson and Phoenix we'll go in the spring
I'll be doggone lucky if I win a durn thing
To get to the finals why it'll take all I own
I'll get home by Christmas if I float a small loan

Well it's iodine by barrelful and gauze by the bale
Might go six months without a gettin' my mail
Just a huntin' a string with some bulls I can ride
That rodeo fever just a peelin' my hide

That Elko bartender he enters me for half
Boy when I think of his chances I sure have to laugh
He loses a hundred if I get in a wreck
And me all that I gotta risk is my neck

And the fiddle to round up they say you must go
A sharin' their glory and ridin' their show
When I ask about rooms for ten bucks I found
I could sleep in a teepee at the rodeo grounds
