INTRODUCTORY SPEECH GENTLEMAN JIM
(Faron Young)
« © '66 Central Songs, BMI »

I guess everyone has their favorite singer their favorite entertainer
Mine was Gentleman Jim Reeves
Now I only know he was the great person the great artist and the great singer
He was my friend
I feel that these next songs that you'll hear in this album
Are the greatest that Jim Reeves ever sang
I hope that you will accept my humble way of presenting them to you
Jim was my friend he sang from the heart I'll try to do the best I can

Adios Amigo Gentleman Jim
The sun settin' slowly beyond the last hill
And the chorus sing softly to a world waiting still
Of hearts weak and sadder and lights growing dim
Adios Amigo Gentleman Jim

When he lift up his head and then began to sing
Was like carols at Christmas or birds in the spring
Such joy and such sunshine reflected in him
Adios Amigo Gentleman Jim

Then God went out walking one day heard him singing
With sadness and want to inspire
Said Jim listen to me one favour please do me
Come sing in my heavenly choir
Now the long day is over and the good race is run
And the world smiles much brighter for things Jim has done
A place in God's chorus they made for him our amigo Gentleman Jim
Adios Amigo Gentleman Jim

HE'LL HAVE TO GO
(Joe Allison - Audrey Allison)
« © '59 Central Songs, BMI »

Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
Let's pretend we're together all alone
I'll tell the man to turn the jukebox way down low
And you can tell your friend there with you he'll have to go

Whisper to me tell me do you love me true or is he holding you the way I do
Though love is blind make up your mind I've got to know
Should I hang up or will you tell him he'll have to go
You can't say the words I wanna hear while you're with another man
Do you love me answer yes or no darling I will understand

Put your sweet lips a little closer...

THIS IS IT
(Cindy Walker)
« © '64 Tree Publishing, BMI »

Well this is it that day is here
The day I knew would come when you would leave me dear
Well here I sit while teardrops fall
And wonder why I care when you don't care at all

But I'm a fool that way from a way back when
A fool who take you back if you would come back again
But this is it you're gone you're free
You'll find another love but this is it for me

Well this is it that day is here it's no surprising yet I can't hold back the tears
Well here I sit and try to guess how such an empty room's so full of loneliness

Well even the clock has stopped somehow I guess you knew
That time's run out from me it's over it's all through
Yes this is it you're gone you're free
You'll find another love but this is it for me

GUILTY
(Alex Zanetis)
« © '63 Tree Publishing, BMI »

I've been accused convicted and condemned the trial's over and now I face the end
Is this your way of telling me we're through when all I'm guilty of is loving you

You were the judge the jury all in one you found me guilty and now my terms begun
I must confess I've never been untrue and all I'm guilty of is loving you

Loving you and now I'm losing you oh losing you for things I didn't do
Please let your heart consider and appeal for now you know exactly how I feel
Don't punish me for things I didn't do when all I'm guilty of is loving you
Yes all I'm guilty of is loving you

IS THIS ME
(Dottie West - Bill West)
« © '62 Tree Publishing, BMI »

Is this me is it really me sittin' here crying
Well it shouldn't be it just can't be me my eyes're lying
Cause that's not you it just can't be you you wouldn't be cheatin'
It's someone else yes it's someone else whose darling's leavin'

I just can't believe my eyes you took me by surprise
Oh how I wish I'd just stayed home I'd still be thinking you're all my own
This isn't me it just can't be me sittin' here crying
Is it just a dream I know it's just a dream our love can't be dying

I just can't believe my eyes...

(Werly Fairburn)

I guess I'm crazy for loving you you tell me many ways that I won't do
My heart keeps saying that I'm a fool I guess I'm crazy for loving you

I don't dare let you go it's unfair this I know
I don't care if it's so it has to be
My heart keeps saying that I'm a fool I guess I'm crazy for loving you

I don't dare let you go...

FOUR WALLS
(George Campbell - Marvin Moore)
« © '57 Unart Catalog, BMI / Green Door Music, BMI »

Out where the bright lights are glowing you're drawn like a moth to the flame
You laugh while the wine's overflowing while I sit and whisper your name
Four walls to hear me four walls to see four walls too near me closing in on me

Sometimes I ask why I'm waiting but my walls have nothing to say
I'm made for love not for hating but here where you left me I'll stay
Four walls to hear me four walls to see four walls too near me closing in on me

One night with you is like heaven and so while I'm walking the floor
I listen for steps in the hallway and wait for your knock on my door
Four walls to hear me four walls to see four walls too near me closing in on me

IS IT REALLY OVER
(Jim Reeves)
« © '64 Tree Publishing, BMI »

Is it really over is this the end of the line
Don't tell me I'm losing the love that was mine

If you're really leaving take some part of me
So I'll always remember how sweet love used to be

I wonder who's stepping into my shoes who can he be
I can tell by your eyes our love has died and it's over for me
[ piano ]
I wonder who's stepping...
Really over for me

Welcome to my world won't you come on in
Miracles I guess still happen now and then
Step into my heart and leave your cares behind
Welcome to my world built with you in mind

Knock and the door will open seek and you will find
Ask me who will be given the key to this world of mine
I'll be waiting here with my arms unfurled
Waiting just for you welcome to my world
[ piano + steel ]
Knock and the door will open...

I'M GONNA CHANGE EVERYTHING
(Alex Zanetis)
« © '62 Tree Publishing, BMI »

Yeah I'm gonna change everything that holds a mem'ry of you oh yeah
I'm gonna start in the hall take the pictures off the wall and burn 'em
Move the chairs around take the window curtains down and burn 'em
Everything I see reminds me you were here
Yeah I'm gonna change everything that holds a mem'ry of you oh yeah

The candle of your set you gave me on the night of my birthday
The records that you bought the hi-fi we loved to play
The decorating man will come and rearrange them
Yeah I'm gonna change everything that holds a mem'ry of you oh yeah

Take the carpet off the floor throw it out the door it's filled with tears
Everything I find that brings you to my mind must disappear
And every night I dream I'll dream of someone new
Yeah I'm gonna change everything that holds a mem'ry of you
Yeah I'm gonna change everything that holds a mem'ry of you oh yeah mhm

ACCORDING TO MY HEART
(Gary Walker)
« © '55 Cedarwood Publishing, BMI »

According to my heart you're the one for me
The one love of my life is here when you're with me
If someone stole your love my heart would beat no more
For you're the one my heart is always longing for

Though I don't know the reason why my dreams don't turn out right
Still I'll keep listening to my heart who knows someday they might
For according to my heart my future will be bright
And every day I pray that my heart knows what's right
[ steel ]
Though I don't know the reason why...
And every day I pray that my heart knows what's right

MEXICAN JOE
(Mitchell Torok)
« © '53 Unichappell Music, BMI / Elvis Presley Music, BMI »

South of the border hey I know a lad
He's got more fun than anybody's had
Don't got no worry don't got no dough
Everybody's a wondering bout Mexican Joe

In old Mexico they call him the Rhumba King
Leads all the women around on a string
When they go out they get a million thrills
But the lovely senoritas wind up with the bills
Dancin' romancin' always on the go
Sun shining down on Mexican Joe
[ piano ]
He makes the night spots all along the bay
People want to see him when he comes their way
He spreads so much joy everywhere he goes
Everybody shouts Viva la Mexican Joe
He likes to gamble at poker he's an ace
He's always lucky with the cardsthat's got a face
At winnin' the money he is sure a whiz
But when they win they don't collect cause they don't know where he is
Dancin' romancin' always on the go sun shining down on Mexican Joe
[ guitar ]
He don't got no income tax cause he don't got no dough
Still he gets along just fine how we'll never know
He's got everything he wants a girl a drink a song
And if we use his formula we surely can't go wrong
His favorite playground is anywhere there's girl
He's got that something that sets their hearts a whirl
It couldn't be his money cause he ain't got a peso
But when he wants a kiss all he's got to do is say so
Dancin' romancin' always on the go
Sun shining down on Mexican Joe
Sun shining down on Mexican Joe
