A posthumous Hank Williams collection that's diametrical opposite of the Luke the Drifter, opening with "Jambalaya (On the Bayou)" and rolling through 11 more hot numbers, all about men and women who enjoy having a good time. There's nothing not to love about this album as far as it goes, although, as with most of his other LPs, it has been supplanted many times by various CD releases.

I WON'T BE HOME NO MORE
(Hank Williams)
« © '52 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »

Well you're just in time to be too late I tried to but I couldn't wait
And now I've got another date so I won't be home no more
You're just in time to miss the boat so don't take off your hat and coat
Be on your way that's all she wrote cause I won't be home no more
I stood around a month or two and waited for your call
Now I'm too busy pitchin' woo so come around next fall
I stretched your name right off my slate and hung a sign on my front gate
You're just in time to be too late and I won't be home no more
[ steel - fiddle - steel ]
Well you're just in time to turn around and drive your buggy back to town
You looked me up I turned you down and I won't be home no more
You're just in time to change your tune go tell your troubles to the moon
And call around next May or June cause I won't be home no more
I used to be the patient kind believed each alibi
But that's all done I've changed my mind I've got new fish to fry
Well you're just in time to celebrate the thing you didn't calculate
You're just in time to be too late and I won't be home no more

HONKY TONK BLUES
(Hank Williams)
« © '48 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »

Hey I left my home down on a rural route and I told my folks I'm goin' steppin' out
And get the honky tonk blues hey the honky tonk blues
Hey Lord I got 'em I got the honky tonk blues
Hey I went to a dance I wore out my shoes woke up this mornin' wishin' I could lose
That jumpin' honky tonk blues hey the honky tonk blues
Cause Lord I got 'em I got the honky tonk blues
[ steel ]
Well I stopped into every place in town this city life has really got me down
I got the honky tonk blues hey the honky tonk blues
Hey Lord I got 'em I got the honky tonk blues
I'm gonna tuck my worries underneath my arm and scat right back to my pappy's farm
And leave these honky tonk blues hey the honky tonk blues
Cause Lord I got 'em I got the honky tonk blues

I'LL NEVER GET OUT OF THIS WORLD ALIVE
(Hank Williams - Fred Rose)
« © '50 Milene Music, ASCAP / Intersong USA, ASCAP »

Now you're lookin' at a man that's gettin' kinda mad
I've had a lots of luck but it's all been bad
No matter how I struggle and strive I'll never get out of this world alive
My fishin' pole is broke the creek is full of sand
My woman ran away with another man
No matter how I struggle and strive I'll never get out of this world alive
A distant uncle passed away and left me quite a batch
And I was livin' high until that fatal day
A lawyer proved I wasn't born I was only hatched
Everythin's again't me and it's got me down
If I jumped in the river I would probly drown
No matter how I struggle and strive I'll never get out of this world alive
[ steel - fiddle ]
These shabby shoe I'm wearin' all the time is full of holes and nails
And brother if I stepped on a worn out dime
I bet a nickel I could tell if it was heads or tails
I'm not gonna worry wrinkles in my brow cause nothin's ever gonna be alright no how
No matter how I struggle and strive I'll never get out of this world alive

When you are sad and lonely and have no place to go
Come to see me baby and bring along some dough
And we'll go honky tonkin' honky tonkin' honky tonkin' honey baby
We'll go honky tonkin' round this town
[ steel ]
When you and your baby have a falling out
Call me up sweet mama and we'll go stepping out
And we'll go honky tonkin'...
[ fiddle ]
We're goin' to the city to the city fair
If you go to the city baby you will find me there
And we'll go honky tonkin'...
[ guitar ]
We're goin' honky tonkin'...

HOWLIN' AT THE MOON
(Hank Williams)
« © '51 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »

I know there's never been a man in the awful shape I'm in
I can't even spell my name my head's in such a spin
Today I tried to eat a steak with a big old table spoon
You got me chasin' rabbits walkin' on my hands and howlin' on the moon
Well Sug I took one look at you and it almost drove me mad
And then I even want and lost what little sense I had
Now I can't tell the day from night I'm crazy as a loon
You got me chasin' rabbits pullin' out my hair and howlin' at the moon
[ steel ]
Some friends of mine asked me to go out on a huntin' spree
Cause there ain't a hounddog in this state that can hold a light to me
I ate three bones for dinner today and tried to tree a coon
You got me chasin' rabbits I'm cratchin' fleas and howlin' at the moon
[ fiddle ]
I rode my horse to town today and a gaspump we did pass
I pulled him up and I hollered whoa and said fill him up with gas
The man picked up a monkey wrench and wham he changed my tune
You got me chasin' rabbitts spittin' out teeth and howlin' at the moon
I never thought in this old world a fool could fall so hard
But honey baby when I fell the whole world must have jarred
I think I'd quit my doggish ways if you'd take me for your goom
You got me chasin' rabbitts pickin' out rings and howlin' at the moon

MY BUCKET'S GOT A HOLE IN IT
(Clarence Williams)
« © '49 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »

Yeah my bucket's got a hole in it yeah my bucket's got a hole in it
Yeah my bucket's got a hole in it I can't buy no beer

Well I'm standing on the corner with a bucket in my hand
I'm a waitin' for a woman that ain't got no man
Cause my bucket's got a hole in it...

Well I went upon a mountain I looked down in the sea
I seen the crabs and the fishes doin' the be-bop-bee
Cause my bucket's got a hole in it...

Well it ain't no use for me working so hard
When I got a woman in the bossman's yard
Cause my bucket's got a hole in it...

Well me and my baby we bought a Ford
And now we sit together on the running board
Yeah my bucket's got a hole in it...

BABY WE'RE REALLY IN LOVE
(Hank Williams)
« © '51 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »

If you're lovin' me like I'm lovin' you baby we're really in love
If you're happy with me like I'm happy with you old Cupid just gave us a shove
If you're thinkin' of me like I'm thinkin' of you then I know what you're thinkin' of
If you're lovin' me like I'm lovin' you baby we're really in love
I run around in circles and turn in fire alarms
I'm nuty as a fruitcake when you're not in my arms
If you're meant for me like I'm meant for you baby we fit like a glove
If you're lovin' me like I'm lovin' you baby we're really in love
[ steel - fiddle ]
If you're lovin' me like I'm lovin' you baby we're really in love
If you're countin' on me like I'm countin' on you old Cupid just gave us a shove
If you're dreamin' of me like I'm dreamin' of you
Then I know what you're dreamin' of
If you're lovin' me like I'm lovin' you baby we're really in love
My folks think I've gone crazy and I don't feel too sure
And yet there's nothing wrong with me that weddin' bells won't cure
If you go for me like I go for you baby we fit like a glove
If you're lovin' me like I'm lovin' you baby we're really in love
