Edgier and more consistent than What Do I Do with Me, Can't Run from Yourself runs the range of Tucker's abilities, from the slow-blues burn of Marshall Chapman's "Can't Run from Yourself" to the wistful melancholy of Hugh Prestwood's "Half the Moon." A rollicking duet with Delbert McClinton on "Tell Me About It" is matched by the fine romance of "Two Sparrows in a Hurricane"; which one you like best will depend strictly on personal preferences. Switch one song on each side, and you've got a side of rockers and a side of ballads.

IT'S A LITTLE TOO LATE
(Roger Murrah - Pat Terry)
« © '92 Murrah Music, BMI / Castle Street Music, ASCAP »
Well I was up all night well wonderin' what to do
Thinkin' that I oughta just forget about you
But it's a little too late well it's a little too late
When you walked in I should've walked out
Well it's a little too late to do the right thing now
Well the whole town told me you're the heart break king
Guess I oughta pay attention when they say those things
But it's a little too late well it's a little too late
I know all my old buddies wanna help me out
But it's a little too late to do the right thing now
Turn the jukebox up throw some sawdust down
I'm too far gone to turn this heart around
I may be wrong but I don't walk out
Well it's a little too late to do the right thing now
[ fiddle - guitar ]
Turn the jukebox up...
Well I was up all night...
When you walked in I should've walked out
Well it's a little too late to do the right thing now

I CAN'T RUN FROM YOURSELF
(Marshall Chapman)
« © '92 Tall Girl Music, BMI »
You can run for cover you can run for help
You can run to your lover but you can't ever run from yourself no no no
Because there you are no matter how far you go
You can run to Alaska run to LA
Run home to mama but you can't ever run from yourself no no no
Because there you are no matter how far you go
No matter how far you go no matter how long you stay
You can run forever but darling you will never never find true happiness that way
You can run for election you can run for your life
Run for protection but you can't ever run from yourself no no no
Because there you are no matter how far you go oh no
[ guitar ]
No matter how far you go no matter how long you stay
You can run forever but darling you will never never find true happiness that way
You can run for cover you can run for help
You can run to your lover but you can't ever run from yourself no no no
Because there you are no matter how far you go
There you are no matter how far you go

TWO SPARROWS IN A HURRICANE
(Mark Alan Springer)
« © '92 Murrah Music, BMI »
She's fifteen and he's barely driving a car
She's got his ring and he's got the key to her heart
It's just a matter of time they'll spread their wings and fly
Like two sparrows in a hurricane trying to find their way
With a headful of dreams and faith that can move anything
They've heard it's all uphill but all they know is how they feel
The world says they'll never make it but love says they will
There's a baby crying and one more on the way
There's a wolf at the door with a big stack of bills they can't pay
The clouds are dark and the wind is high but they can see the other side
Like two sparrows...
She's eighty-three and he's barely driving a car
She's got his ring and he's got the key to her heart
It's just a matter of time they'll spread their wings and fly
Like two sparrows...

DON'T LET MY HEART BE THE LAST TO KNOW
(Dennis Morgan - Billy Burnette)
« © '92 Little Shop Of Morgansongs, BMI »
I see the future slipping by I see it fading from my life
I see a distant look growing in your eyes are you telling me goodbye
And are you coming back again is it over now is this the end
There's a feeling of lonesome in the wind
Tell me is it so don't let my heart be the last to know
I have a right to know the truth after all that we've been through
Is there somebody else have you found someone new
Is there just no more me and you
And are you coming back again...
[ guitar ]
There's a feeling of lonesome in the wind
Tell me is it so don't let my heart be the last to know
Well don't let my heart be the last to know
Well don't let my heart be the last to know

TELL ME ABOUT IT
(Bill LaBounty - Pat McLaughlin)
« © '92 Frankly Scarlett Music, BMI »
[ with Delbert McClinton]
They say that there's a hole in the atmosphere
The things you think will last just disappear
When you were ready to say I do somebody lowered the boom on you
Now you need a sympathetic ear
Tell me about it tell me about teardrops in the dark
Tell me about it tell me all about your broken heart
You say you need someone to hold you tight
You can't stand another lonely night
Well come closer and tell me about it
[ guitar ]
Love isn't always true it hurts sometimes
Your tears will tell on you girl I'm not blind
I know what you're going through I graduated from that school too
If you need a shoulder cry on mine
Tell me about it...
[ steel - guitar ]
You took a lesson in playin' a fool I graduated from that school too
If you need a shoulder cry on mine
Tell me about it...
Tell me about it...

I'VE LEARNED TO LIVE
(Dean Dillon - Frank Dycus)
« © '90 Songs Of Universal, BMI »
Like a child lost in the wilderness I knew not where to go
Surrounded by the emptiness of a love that left me cold
I stumbled through the darkness of nights that have no stars
And days that have no sunshine to warm my naked heart
Like a bird in flight brought down by stones from an unknown assailant's sling
A stranger took you from my arms and I lost everything
In days to come I nearly ran out of ways to stay alive
But through it all I never lost the will to survive
And I'm not over you and I doubt that I'll ever be
But I've learned to live and you won't be the death of me oh no
Yes I've learned to live and I'm doing well but I'm not over you
Like a thief who takes just what he needs and leaves the rest behind
You took the heart right out of me and left me with my mind
And I've almost went out of it at times believed I did
But gradually I learned you're someone I'll have to live with
Cause I'm not over you...

WHAT DO THEY KNOW
(Donny Kees - Richard Ross)
« © '92 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
They say that life goes on I'll find true love again
It's not the end of the world one day my heart will mend
Someone will come along and a new love will grow
That's what they say but what do they know
How could they know the pain I feel inside my heart
They never lost your love so who do they think they are
They never held you they had to let you go
They're not trying to live without you so what do they know
They say all is fair in love but for me that's just not true
I feel like someone took a knife and cut my life into
It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved I'm told
At least that's what they say but what do they know
They're not trying to live without you so what do they know

RAINBOW RIDER
(Bobby Fisher - Charlie Black - Austin Roberts)
« © '89 Chappell & Co, ASCAP »
Out of the chute he sits tall as the timber
One hand on the horse and one hand on the sky
Eight seconds later he lands in the money
And winning's a feeling that money can't buy
Kids love a hero and big silver buckles
Girls love to dream of a rodeo man
He loves the backroads and fields without fences
And I guess he loves me because I understand
He's a rain rain rainbow rider
He's a hitched up his saddle he's ready to ride
He's a rain rain rainbow rider
A dream chasing cowboy with a rodeo girl by his side
Winter in Tuscon and spring in Sonora
Reno in June then off to Cheyenne
He remembers the fall that he took last September
He's hopin' he draws that old brahma again
He's a rain rain rainbow rider...
Lately he's talking bout having a son
Someone who'll learn from the things that he's done
A young bronc bustin' buckerooo
Trailer behind an old white El Dorado
Red western sunset and blue mountain range
Some things in this life you'd like to do over
But living with him's something I'd never change
He's a rain rain rainbow rider...
He's a rain rain rainbow rider
A dream chasing cowboy with a rodeo girl by his side

HALF THE MOON
(Hugh L. Prestwood)
« © '89 Careers Music, BMI »
Half the moon is shining tonight half the moon is pitch black
And I got half a chance that you might turn around and come back
Half my love is seeing the light half my love is still blind
Keeps on thinking tomorrow you'll change your mind
Half our hearts were doing just fine and half our hearts were in doubt
Half the time white walking the line I ended up stepping out
Half my prayers were praying to God half my prayers were to you
Tonight it looks like the answers are overdue
And I'm feeling just how hard half the moon can pull
I swear my heart might crack in two if that moon were full
Half the moon is shining tonight half the moon's up and gone
You must have taken half of its light to find the road that you're on
Half my love is seeing the truth half my love is still blind
And makes that missing half the moon hard to find oh
And makes that missing half the moon hard to find

DANGER AHEAD
(Paul Kennerley)
« © '89 Irving Music, BMI »
I warned you baby a long time ago you got've to stop all this hurtin' me so
But I don't think you heard a word I said
Well I'm telling you now honey that there's danger ahead
Treatin' me bad tellin' me lies well that ain't cool baby that ain't wise
You've been running around spending all of my bread
You better change your ways now cause there's danger ahead
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned
They should've told you that on the day you was borned
Better watch your step now be careful where you tread
I'm telling you this baby that there's danger ahead
Can't understand why you want to do me wrong
Straighten up baby or you'll find me gone
[ harmonica ]
I wanna love you that's sure enough
But if you're looking for trouble well I can get tough
I'm gonna quit all my crying dry all the tears that I shed
Yeah I'm warning you baby that there's danger ahead
Well I'm warning you baby that there's danger ahead
Oh I'm warning you baby that there's danger ahead
