One of the things that keeps Wynn Stewart's performances so vacuum-packed fresh is that he always has an ear open for a good new song. This album is just stuffed full of them too. I Bought the Shoes That Just Walked Out on Me is a hot-off-the-griddle Steve Stone-Red Simpson ballad while You Can't Wynn, Stewart stands on its own as a catchy-new nifty novelty song (a Wynn original) that features almost every one of Country music's top entertainers. Going right down the line, it so happens that every song here is brand new... with two exceptions. The first is the beautiful title song You Don't Care What Happens To Me, written by music master, Fred Rose. The second is Merle Haggard's touching ballad, Today I Started Loving You Again, soon to become a Country classic. Altogether this bunch of new songs and pair of familiar ones combine to make a Wynn Stewart album bubbling over with delicious sounds and an enthusiasm that's as catchy as the measles...it just might top every other album Wynn's made to date!

YOU DON'T CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO ME
(Fred Rose)
« © '62 Milene Music, ASCAP »

Darlin' I love you so and it's mighty hard to know
That you don't care what happens to me
The shadows creep through and I worry over you
But you don't care what happens to me

I wanted a true love that never would die
But somehow that never could be
And tears fill my eyes ev'ry time I realize
That you don't care what happens to me

I wanted a true love that never would die...
You don't care what happens you don't care what happens
You don't care what happens to me

BAR FLY
(Bob Wesley)
« © '70 Strong Tone, BMI »

I wonder little bar fly if I crushed you in the dirt
Though the pain may kill you well would you feel the hurt
I wonder little bar fly though your brain is small
Do you ever think of love or do you think at all

I wish I was a bar fly and when it's time to close
I wouldn't have to go and I could be here all alone
I'd be in seventh heaven cause ev'rybody's gone
I wish I was a bar fly I'd have a bottle for my home
[ steel ]
Well I'll bet you little bar fly if you could only speak
You could tell a lot of stories about strong men now turned weak
It's funny little bar fly how a man will think
And the crazy things he'll do when he's had too much drink

Well I wish I was a bar fly cause when it's time to close
I wouldn't have to leave I'd be here all alone
And I'd be in seventh heaven when ev'rybody's gone
I wish I was a bar fly I'd have a bottle for my home
I wish I was a bar fly I'd have a bottle for my home

YOUNG AS SPRING
(Wynn Stewart - Ken Nelson)
« © '69 Tree Publishing, BMI »

I just heard a robin sing although it's much too soon
But it's spring within my heart because I'm so in love with you
It's not that time of year but I can hear that robin sing
My love for you is always new and just as young as spring

Though it may rain and snow I know our love just won't grow cold
It will always be the same and it will never grow old
The years may come and go but oh what happiness they'll bring
With you each day I'll always stay just as young as spring
[ guitar ]
Though it may rain and snow...
Just as young as spring

YOU CAN'T WYNN STEWART
(Wynn Stewart - William Miller)
« © '70 Freeway Music, BMI »

She's all mine she don't belong to you
All you country stars I'm warning you
Well when I'm not around leave her alone
And this means you if your name's in this song

She'll break your Hart Freddie and hurt your Pride Charley
Johnny she'll spend all your Cash
Mean as the Dickens Jimmie well don't take her to Austin Bobby
She'll leave you feelin' a Haggard Merle
You'll have pay the Price Ray all she'll drink is Tom Collins
Anderson wait till you get the Bill
She'll bring you bad luck Buck it's more than I can Bare Bobby
I guess you can't Wynn Stewart
[ guitar ]
Autographs I guess she's got 'em all
Eight by ten glossies on her wall
A when she's gone I know just where she went
Well now she's a Country Music Fan Club president

She'll break your Hart Freddie and hurt your Pride Charley
Johnny she will spend all your Cash
She's mean as the Dickens Jimmie but don't take her to Austin Bobby
She'll leave you feeling Haggard Merle
And you'll have pay the Price Ray all she'll drink is Tom Collins
Anderson wait till you get the Bill
She's gonna bring you bad luck Buck it's more than I can Bare Bobby
I'm telling you you can't win Wynn Stewart

Oh don't don't take her from me Jerry Lee
I wonder where she goes out with Nelson Willie
Don't sweet talk her Charlie Walker

TODAY I STARTED LOVING YOU AGAIN
(Merle Haggard - Bonnie Owens)
« © '67 Tree Publishing, BMI »

Today I started loving you again
And I'm right back where I've really always been
I got over you just long enough to let my heartaches mend
Then today I started loving you again

Whoa a what a fool I was to think I might get by
With only these few million tears to cry
I might have known the day was soon to come
And now crying time for me has only begun

Because today I started loving you again...
Yes today I started loving you again

I BOUGHT THE SHOES THAT JUST WALKED OUT ON ME
(Red Simpson - Steve Stone)
« © '69 Central Songs, BMI »

A tavern girl that's what you were the day I found you
But still I gave you all my love and built my world around you
I dressed you up in fancy clothes for all the world to see
And I bought the shoes that just walked out on me

Yes I bought the shoes that just walked out the door
And the ring on the hand that waved goodbye forever more
And I bought the lipstick on the lips that begged please set me free
And I bought the shoes that just walked out on me
[ guitar ]
Friends that knew you tried to tell me leave her alone
But simple minded over-anxious-me kept hanging on
Till at last my love for you became my own worst enemy
When I bought the shoes that just walked out on me

Yes I bought the shoes that just walked out the door...
And I bought the shoes that just walked out on me

CARE
(Vern Stovall)
« © '70 Central Songs, BMI »

Care oh what a beautiful word for those who had somebody to
Care where they go what they do what they say
And if they are happy or blue
Care I wish I could recall how it was when somebody cared long ago
Cause the difference is driving me out of my mind
And the difference I'd sooner not know

Life in two dollar rooms and cheap hotels they mean less and less ev'ry day
So what if I don't see tomorrow well who's gonna care anyway
Oh care wish I could recall how it was and the way our love used to be
But the difference is that I'll always care
And now you don't care about me

Oh care whoa what a beautiful word for those who have somebody to
Just care where they go what they do what they say
But no one will care if I go oh care

I'M BEGINNING TO BELIEVE
(Dale Noe)
« © '70 Freeway Music, BMI »

I'm beginning to believe you're in love
When looking in your eyes I see me
I'm beginning to believe I'm in love
In love with you is where I wanna be

I get such a happy feeling whenever I'm with you
You fill the emptiness inside of me that I once knew
I'm beginning to believe we're in love
When looking in your eyes I see me

I'm beginning to believe you're in love...
I get such a happy feeling...

IF HOUSES HAD HEARTS
(Charlie Williams - Joe Nixon)
« © '70 ATV Songs, BMI »

If houses had hearts and feelings like people do
Our house would cry its heart out for me and you
Papers and milk bottles left by the door
The lovers who live there don't love anymore
And with no one to care all the flowers have died
If houses had feelings (if houses had feelings) our house would cry

If houses could hurt and remember like people do
Our house would hurt remembering me and you
Cobwebs in the corners and dust on the floor
Laughter don't ring through its halls anymore
And the fireplace is cold where the flames have all died
If houses had feelings (if houses had feelings) our house would cry

There's plenty of room for the children to play
And shade trees will grow in the backyard someday
It's a place to be happy if two people try
If houses had feelings (if houses had feelings) then our house would cry

NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT
(Baverly Stewart - Don Pearce)
« © '69 Beechwood Music, BMI »

Your eyes reveal what your lips conceal if there's something on your mind
Things like goin' without me a knowin' well there's no time like the present time
And if my talkin' won't stop your walkin' and if you're no longer mine
And if my grievin' won't stop your leavin' there's no time like the present time

A house divided by love one-sided don't stand a chance anyway
Cause in just a minute all the love left in it will die and decay it will soon fade away
If this golden silence is your own sweet way and it's all in my mind
And if you love me show me you love me there's no time like the present time

Cause a house divided by love one-sided...
There's no time like the present time
