POOR SWEET BABY
(Bill Anderson)

I knew this mornin' as soon as the phone rang
That crazy woman had hurt you again
That's why I told you come on over
The coffee's warm and so are my arms
That you fit so nicely in
Poor sweet baby poor sweet baby
Did my baby spend another sleepless night
Poor sweet baby comes to mama
Let mama love your pain away and make ever thing all right
If she don't love you why don't she leave you
And let a real woman light your fire
You're too big a boy to go to bed hungry
And the way that I need you I could feed you
Anything your heart desires
Poor sweet baby poor sweet baby...
Poor sweet baby

I'M ALRIGHT
(Bill Anderson)
« © '69 Tree Publishing, BMI »
I'm alright (I'm alright)
I'm alright (I'm alright)
I'm a little bit red in the eyes
A little bit hurt in the heart
A little bit weary in the soul but I'm alright
(I'm alright) I'm alright
You mean I'm worth the dime it took to call me on the phone
Since when are you concerned about the way things are here at home
We're doin' just fine without you thank you me and the dog and the cat
I don't care what you're doin' and I could care less where you're at
Cause I'm alright (I'm alright)...
The rent's paid through December and there's groceries on the shelf
You're not here to take care of me so I'm a takin' care of myself
No I haven't got a job but I've got a friend who does
I know that don't sound much like me but I'm not the gal that I was
I'm alright (I'm alright)...

WHEN TWO WORLDS COLLIDE
(Roger Miller - Bill Anderson)
« © '61 Tree Publishing, BMI »
(That's what happene when two worlds collide)
Your world was so different from mine don't you see
We just couldn't be close though we tried
We both reached for heavens but ours weren't the same
That's what happens when two worlds collide
Your world was made up of things sweet and good
My world could never fit in wish it could
Two hearts lie in shambles and oh how they've cried
That's what happens when two worlds collide
[ steel ]
Your world was made up of things sweet and good...
That's what happens when two worlds collide

AT THE TIME
(Bill Anderson)
« © '73 Tree Publishing, BMI »
I told him that I loved him cause I loved him at the time
And I told him that I didn't want any other lips touchin' mine
I whispered love your kisses are sweeter than the wine
But I'd never tasted champagne at the time
At the time I didn't know your name and I'd never seen your face
At the time I'd never lost myself in your tender warm embrace
If you've never had filet mignon peanut butter taste just fine
And that's the way it was when I loved him at the time
When I found you I started hearin' pretty music I've never heard
And quietly when we spoke of love it was like I'd learned a brand new word
I once thought I'd seen ev'rything but till I met you I was blind
And I wonder now was I even born at the time
At the time I didn't know your name and I'd never seen your face
At the time I'd never lost myself in your tender warm embrace
If you've never had a T-bone steak saltine crackers taste just fine
And that's the way it was when I loved him at the time
If you've never been to Paris France Big Spring Texas will suit you fine
And that's the way I was when I loved him at the time

TIP OF MY FINGERS
(Bill Anderson)
« © '60 Tree Publishing, BMI »
I reached out my arms and I touched you
With soft words I whispered your name
I held you right on the tips of my fingers
But that was as close as I came
My eyes had a vision of sweet lips
Yielding beneath my command
I held your love on the tips of my fingers
But I let it slip right through my hands
But I let it slip right through my hands
Somebody took you when I wasn't looking
And I should have known from the start
It's a long long way from the tips of my fingers
To the love hidden deep in your heart
To the love hidden deep in your heart

SLIPPIN' AWAY
(Bill Anderson)
« © '73 Tree Publishing, BMI »
Monday's promise is Tuesday's lie Saturday's party is Sunday's fight
Somethin's wrong with you and I love's gone wrong that used to be right
And I can feel it slippin' away slowly slowly slippin' away
It'll be gone in a few more days if you don't stop this love of ours from slippin' away
Wednesday's kisses are Thursday's frown we can't live two days in a row
When our world's not upside down here we stand watchin' it go
And I can feel it slippin' away...
[ piano ]
Roses are red violets are blue sugar is sweet some of the time
This puzzle's missin' a piece or two we've got the grapes but never the wine
And I can feel it slippin' away...
And I can feel it slippin' away...
And I can feel it slippin' away...

IT'S ENOUGH TO MAKE A WOMAN LOSE HER MIND
(Bill Anderson)
« © '66 Tree Publishing, BMI »
I've almost read the ink right off the paper
I've read your letter through so many times
With ev'ry word I ache and ache to hold you
It's enough to make a woman lose her mind
I wish the miles were all that stood between us
For I'd be on the first place I could find
But you love someone else the way I love you
It's enough to make a woman lose her mind
The world for me has turned into a prison
And I've become a prisoner servin' time
For I'm in love one I'll never marry
It's enough to make a woman lose her mind
It's enough to make a woman lose her mind

BRIGHT LIGHTS AND COUNTRY MUSIC
(Bill Anderson - Jimmy Gateley)
« © '65 Johnny Bienstock Music, BMI »
(I love those bright lights and country music)
I won't stay home and cry tonight like all the nights before
I've just learned that I don't really need you anymore
I found a little place downtown where girls like me can go
And they've got bright lights and country music
Bright lights and country music a bottle and a glass
And soon I'll be forgettin' that there ever was a past
And when ev'rybody asks me what helped me forget so fast
I'll say bright lights and country music
(Bright lights and country music)
A table by the bandstand a bottle filled with wine
Honky tonks were made to get an old love off your mind
Nothing else can take away this loneliness of mine
Quite like bright lights and country music
Bright lights and country music...
I love those bright lights and country music

CITY LIGHTS
(Bill Anderson)
« © '58 TNT Music, BMI »
The bright array of city lights as far as I can see
The great white way shines through the night for lonely girls like me
The cabarets and honky tonks their flashing signs invite
A broken heart to lose itself in a glow of city lights
Lights that say forget his name in a glass of sherry wine
Lights that offer something else for an empty heart like mine
They paint a pretty picture of a world that's gay and bright
But it's just a mask for loneliness behind those city lights
[ steel ]
The world was dark and God made stars to brighten up the night
Did the God who put those stars above make those city lights
Did he make a place for girls to cry when things don't turn out right
Are we just supposed to run and hide behind those city lights
Lights that say forget his name in a different atmosphere
Lights that lure are nothing but a masquerade for tears
They paint a pretty picture but my arms can't hold them tight
And I just can't say I love you to a street of city lights
And I just can't say I love you to a street of city lights

IF YOU CAN LIVE WITH IT (I CAN LIVE WITHOUT IT
(Bill Anderson)
« © '73 Tree Publishing, BMI »
You say you found another another you love better
You say you're gonna leave me pack up and go
You don't wanna hurt me but you just gotta have her
And how will I take it you want to know
If you can live with it I can live without it
If you can face your conscience I can face my pride
If you can live with it I can live without it
I did the only thing I know baby I tried
[ steel ]
Can you really take your ring off without feelin' kinda dirty
Can you really kiss her while I'm wearin' your name
Can you run your fingers all across her body
Without missin' me and feelin' ashamed
If you can live with it I can live without it...
I did the only thing I know baby I tried

THINK I'LL GO SOMEWHERE AND CRY MYSELF TO SLEEP
(Bill Anderson)
« © '65 Johnny Bienstock Music, BMI »
I just kissed the one I love for the last time
Never have his soft lips been so sweet
He's gone away and won't be back forever
Think I'll go somewhere and cry myself to sleep
Just before he said goodbye he called me darlin'
And slowly ran his fingers down my cheek
I thought I'd die when he said he still loved me
Think I'll go somewhere and cry myself to sleep
I'll go somewhere and cry myself to sleep
Not because I'm sad but cause I'm weak
I can't stand the thought of life alone without him
Think I'll go somewhere and cry myself to sleep
Think I'll go somewhere and cry myself to sleep
