HELLO I LOVE YOU

(Randall Rogers) « © '75 Southern Artists Music, BMI »
I said hello I love you she said hello how are you
I said have you forgotten she pretend not to hear

I was downtown yesterday
Feelin' low and takin' care of a little business
When I saw her through the window
Of the California Lady's Fashion Shop
She always did know how to dress
She's always kept herself lookin' young and pretty
Since our divorce haven't talked
I pushed my pride aside and walked on in

Her auburn hair was hangin' low
I can't recall her ever looking better
She was tryin' on the latest style
And her form filled the fashion oh so well
I thought I'd ask how things had been
And see if I could do anything to help her
But she seemed to be much more concerned
With findin' shoes to go with her new dress

I said hello I love you she said hello how are you
I said have you forgotten she pretend not to hear
I said hello I need you she said how are things with you
I got the message she came through loud and clear
I said hello I love you

I'M A TRUCKER

(Jerry Foster - Bill Rice) « © '75 PolyGram Int, ASCAP »
I'm a trucker and I'm gonna tell you exactly like it is

This ain't no job to glamorize the way them singers do it in all their songs
It's hell to be a family man and have to spend your time away from home
You strain your eyes and break your back to try to buy the things your family needs
The you wind up with an ulcer and the pain can drive you crazy when it bleeds

You pull into a truckstop thinkin' that you'll grab a bite to eat
You're lookin' for the restroom cause everybody's body needs relief
There's poems to read on every wall and some of them will make you stop and think
And the germs are thick enough to play ring around the rosey on the sink

You take the T-bone special and it's about as tough as some old shoe
But you wash it down with coffee and wish to God you'd brought a bowl of stew
You order homemade apple pie but the cook don't know the sugar from the salt
You'd like to choke the waitress but somehow you know it ain't the woman's fault

Sleepin' in the bunkhouse ain't exactly like the fancy motel bed
You get a lumpy mattres and a pillow that just barely fits your head
You close your eyes and visualize the guy back home who thinks he's such a hound
You know he lives next door to you and you wonder if his wife is out of town

You push your rig on down the line and fight the heavy traffic upon the road
You reach the destination and there ain't a mother there to help unload

OUR MARRIAGE WAS A FAILURE

(Bob McDill - Johnny Russell) « © '75 Ranger Bob Music, ASCAP / PolyGram Int, ASCAP / Songs Of PolyGram, BMI »
She calls me almost every night she said she wouldn't
I go by from time to time I know I shouldn't
I guess I might as well face up the fact is I still need her
Our marriage was a failure but our divorce ain't working either

I say I've come to see the boy she knows I'm lying
When it's time for me to go we're all three crying
And it keeps on gettin' harder every time I have to leave her
Our marriage was a failure but our divorce ain't working either

Did we really try hard as we could or did we just give up
Could we forgive each other now have we waited long enough
If she should say we could make it now Lord could I believe her
Our marriage was a failure but our divorce ain't working either
Our marriage was a failure but our divorce ain't working either

CATFISH JOHN

(Bob McDill - Allen Reynolds) « © '72 PolyGram Int, ASCAP / Songs Of PolyGram, BMI »
Mama said don't go near that river
Don't be hanging round ol' Catfish John
Come the morning I'd always be there
Walking in his footsteps in the sweet delta dawn

Let me dream of another morning and the time so long ago
When the sweet magnolias blossomed cottonfields were white as snow

Catfish John was a river hobo living by the river bend
Thinking back I still remember I was proud to be his friend

Mama said don't go near that river...
[ steel ] Born a slave in the town on Vicksburg traded for a chestnut mare
But still he never spoke in anger though his load was hard to bear

Mama said don't go near that river...
Mama said don't go near that river...

YOUR FOOL

(Johnny Russell - Roy Dea) « © '75 Sunflower County Songs, BMI »
I don't care what people say I can't help I feel this way
Yes it's true I'm a fool but I'm your fool
Nobody else can make me do what I'd gladly do for you
Cause it's true I'm a fool but I'm your fool

I'm your fool and I will be anything you ask of me
Your every wish is my command I'll be your clown or be your man
Fill me up or put me down either way I'll be around
Cause it's true I'm a fool but I'm your fool
[ steel - piano ] I'm your fool and I will be anything you ask of me...
Yes it's true I'm a fool but I'm your fool

THAT'S HOW MY BABY BUILDS A FIRE

(Jim Foster) « © '74 Adventure Music, ASCAP »
My baby takes the twinkle from her eye
She fans it with a whisper and a sigh
She commands the whole world to be still
While she leads me up the highest hill

And that's how my baby builds a fire
That's how my baby builds a fire
And I get burned up in it every time
I get burned up in it every time

Her long black shining hair is like the coal
Forever kindling the embers in my soul
Her softest touch can make the lightning stop
While a song of thunder's playing in my heart

That's how my baby builds a fire...
I get burned up in it every time
I get burned up in it every time

NOBODY TOUCHES MY BABY

(Milton Blackford - Joe Dougherty - Dave Gillon) « © '74 Famous Music, ASCAP »
Nobody touches my baby
Nobody holds her but me

My baby's a walkin' temptation
When she moves it stays on your mind
But friend it's just wishful thinking
If you're hoping she'll step out of line

Cause nobody touches my baby
Nobody holds her but me
She's friendly and easy to talk to
But no one can touch her but me
[ steel ] I can't blame you for wantin' my baby
She's everything you might think she would be
She's all woman and this woman is all mine
So friend you can want all you please

But nobody touches my baby...
No one can touch her but me
