GEORGIA SUNSHINE

(Jerry Reed Hubbard) « © '70 Vector Music, BMI / Sixteen Stars Music, BMI »
Oh how I miss that Georgia sunhine
Oh how I wish that I was there
To wake up every morning to the smell of them Georgia pines
Each blossom's blooming everywhere

My restless young heart to be wandering
Far from that old hometown of mine
But oh how I long every minute that I've been gone
To get myself back home to that Georgia sunshine

I wandered round from town to town
Ain't many places I ain't go
But the road I see it keeps calling me
It's the road that take this Georgia boy back home

Oh how I miss that Georgia sunhine...
Mhm my restless young heart to be wandering...

GOOD FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS

(Jerry Reed Hubbard) « © '69 Vector Music, BMI / Sixteen Stars Music, BMI »
Well it was midnight cold and rainy
In the sleepy town of Fairburn population small
An angry man stood out on mainstreet
Shiverin' in his coatsleeves by the City Hall wall
The many of a car that passed him in for an hour
But they wouldn't look at him at all

So he yelled damn you friends and neighbors you won't give me a ride
My feet are sore from walking and I'm frozed by inside
Lord a man could catch his death of colds or a severe case of flu
Thanks to friends and neighbors like you

Well he come storming into my restaurant
Dripping water soaked and were in a freezing cold
I poured him a hot black cup of coffee took his coat off cursing mad
And here's the tale that he old
Said I picked up a young hitchhiker
Took my bill fold and my car and left me off down the road

Well I must have walked for hours to get here
Went to see your friendly sheriff in my desperation
He'd just sit there and pick his teeth
Laughed a little when I told him of my sitation
And when I finished he leaned back and belched
Said let me see some identification

Cause he said damn you friends and neighbors seems like every Saturday night
I get an awful full of this same old bull cause I'm drunk as off half tight
Hey the weekend's same old story don't get home till one or two
Thanks to friends and neighbors like you

Well I called your sheriff a dirty name
Then was thrown out through his front door by a big deputy
I hit that sidewalk cursin' shook my fist back in his face
Said you can't do this to me
Cause I'm a circuit judge for Monroe sheriff
And you gonna pay for all this indignity

Well I've seen some angry people
But I've never seen a man as mad as that fellow was
He said I never did like feather I hate the rain I hate hitchhikers
And I'm sick of your local fuss
And if ever I saw one town that needs another sheriff
This is one town that does

And he yelled damn you friends and neighbors as he grabbed his coat to leave
Well it's just too funny to believe
Lord I could write a book of jokes about what I've been through
In this town of friends and neighbors like you

THAT'S ALL PART OF LOSING

(Jerry Reed Hubbard) « © '70 Vector Music, BMI / Sixteen Stars Music, BMI »
Your memory just won't let me be
Keeps remindig me that I was wrong
And without your love I just can't go on

And I've learned to cry since you said goodbye
And I know that I will lose my mind most any day
Baby that's a surprise that you pay

Cause that's all part of losing that's all part of losing
Learning how to cry wishing you could fall off and die
That's all part of losing

Since you're mine no more life ain't worth living for
Now I know that you are everything to me
My mistakes were made but baby baby how I paid

And I spend my time searchin' through my mind
Hoping I can find a way to say I'm sorry
Sorry for the fool I've been beggin' baby try me again

Cause that's all part of losing that's all part of losing
Crying begging please learning how to call on your knees
That's all part of losing baby baby that's all part of losing

EIGHT MORE MILES TO LOUISVILLE

(Louis M. Jones) « © '47 Fort Knox Music, BMI / Trio Music, BMI »
Oh weel I've traveled o'er this country wide a seekin' fortune fair
I've been down the two coast lines I've traveled everywhere
From Portland East and Portland West and back across the line
I'm goin' now to a place that's best that old home town of mine

Son eight more miles and Louisville will come in to my view
Eight more miles on this old road and I 'll never more be blue
Well I knew some day that I'd come back I knew it from the start
Son eight more miles to Louisville the home town of my heart
[ guitar ] Just eight more miles and Louisville
[ guitar ] There's eight more miles and Louisville...
Eight more miles eight more miles
Son there's eight more miles and Louisville

AMOS MOSES

(Jerry Reed Hubbard) « © '69 Vector Music, BMI / Sixteen Stars Music, BMI »
Now Amos Moses was a Cajun he lived by himself in the swamp
He haunted alligators for a livin' he just knock 'em in the head with a stump
The Louisiana law's gonna get ya Amos
It ain't legal huntin' alligators down in the swamp boy
Now everybody blames his old man for makin' him mean as a snake
When Amos Moses was a boy his daddy would use him for alligator bait
Tie a rope around his waist throw him in the swamp ha ha ha
Alligator bait in the Louisiana bayou
About forty five minutes southeast of Tippidoe Louisiana
Live a man called Doc Millsap and his pretty wife Hannah
Well they raised up a son that could eat up his weight in groc'ries
Named him after the man of the cloth called him Amos Moses

Now all folks around south Louisiana said Amos was a hell of a man
He could trap the biggest the meanest alligator and just use one hand
That's all he got left cause the alligator bit him
Left arm gone clean up to the elbow
Well the sheriff got wind that Amos was in the swamp trappin' alligator skins
So he snook in the swamp gonna get the boy but he never come out again
Well I wonder where the Louisiana sheriff went to
Well you can sure get lost in the Louisiana bayou
About forty five minutes southeast of Tippidoe Louisiana
Live a cat called Doc Millsap and his pretty wife Hannah
Well they raised up a son that could eat up his weight in groc'ries
Named him after the man of the cloth called him Amos Moses
Set out on 'em Amos make it count son
About forty five minutes southeast of Tippidoe Louisiana

DREAM SWEET DREAMS ABOUT ME

(John Ragsdale) « © '70 Vector Music, BMI / Sixteen Stars Music, BMI »
Baby won't you dream sweet dreams about me
Let me share your love even if it's only in your mind
Dream sweet dreams about me
Dream of happiness and secret pleasures we have yet to find
And though we're far apart won't you keep me in your heart
Till I'm back in your arms where I belong
Just dream sweet dreams about me till I'm home

The time has come they won't keep that plain on the ground much longer
And I've got to say goodbye for a while
So hold me one more time cause hon I'm gonna miss you oh I miss you
So before I go just let me see your smile

And baby won't you dream sweet dreams about me...
[ guitar ] Baby won't you dream sweet dreams about me till I'm home

PREACHER AND THE BEAR

(Jerry Reed Hubbard) « © '69 Vector Music, BMI / Sixteen Stars Music, BMI »
Well the preacher went out a huntin' it was on one Sunday morn
It was against his religion but he took a shotgun along
He got himself a mess almighty fine quail and one old scraggly hare
And on the way home he crossed the path of a Great big grizzly bear

Well the bear got down lookin' ready to charge
The preacher never seen nothin' quite that large
They looked each other right smack in the eye
Didn't take that preacher long to say bye
The preacher he run till he spotted a tree
He said up in that tree's where I auta be
By the time that bear made a grab for him
The preacher was a sittin' on top a that limb
Scared to death he tuned about
He looked to the sky and began to shout

Hey Lord you delivered Daniel from the bottom of the lion's den
You delivered Joana from the belly of the whale and then
The Hebrew children from the fiery furnace so the good books do declare
Hey Lord if you can't help me for goodness sake don't help that bear

Yaah look out preacher
Well about that time the limb broke off and the preacher came tumblin' down
Had a straight razor out of his pocket by the time he lit on the ground
He landed on his feet right in front a that bear and Lord what an awful fight
The preacher and the bear and the razor and the hair flyin' from left to right

Well first they was up and then they was down
The preacher and the bear runnin' round and round
The bear he roared and the the preacher he groaned
He was havin' a tough time holdin' his own
He said Lord if I get out a here alive
To the good book I'll abide
No more huntin' on the Sabbath day
Come Sunday I'm headin' to the church to pray
Up to the heavens the preacher glanced
He said oh Lord won't you give me one more chance
Then his suspenders gave away
And he knocked that bear ten feet away
Then the preacher got up and made a bound
To the tree where he'd be safe and sound
Pulled himself up and turned about
Cast his eyes to the skies and he did shout

Hey Lord you delivered Daniel from the bottom of the lion's den...

TALK ABOUT THE GOOD TIMES

(Jerry Reed Hubbard) « © '70 Vector Music, BMI / Sixteen Stars Music, BMI »
Well I remember when I was just a children
A time when the people used to treat their neighbors like a fellow man
Them all day singin' and them big prayer meetin's
When a man was proud to walk up and shake on his neighbor's hand

Lord you talk about the good times talk about the good times
Oh if you ever needed help a friend was there
Some good neighbor would help lift your burden
Oh and the simple joys of life your friends would share

But the times are harder and the people are changin'
Today most folks couldn't tell ya who their next door neighbors are
All the guns are loaded the front doors are bolted
Ain't this old world takin' hate and fear just a little too far

Let's talk about the good times let's talk about the good times
I wish I could just go back to the days I'm speakin' of
When a friend would meet you and a smile would greet you
What this old world needs now is more old fashioned love
[ guitar ] Well my old granddaddy God rest his soul now
Well we had a big long talk together the day he died
He said son this world is so full of hate and venom
And I can't wait to leave this ol' place and rest on the other side

Cause you talk about the good time talk about the good time
Well I'm gonna see all the friends I knew in the good old days
We'll have a big hand shakin' and sit and talk together
Sit down by the river Jordan and sing our cares away

Yeah you talk about the good time talk about the good time
Talk about the good time yeah
