OUR WAY OF LIFE
(Sonny Curtis)
« © '67 Skol Music, BMI / Warner-Tamerlane Publishing, BMI »
Standing on the road walking down the highway
Ain't going nowhere but that's our way of life
I never had a lot of ambition but I always made my own way
By turnin' a couple of jobs in some ladies' backyard
I averaged about a dollar a day
I wake up early each morning and before I started on my way
I get some cigarettes and a couple of cups of coffee
A sweepin' the local city cafe
Standing on the road walking down the highway...
I never had no one to love me never had girl to call my own
I never would take a chance to fool with romance
I guess I'm too used to being alone
Nobody wants a drifter well I gotta keep moving on
There's nothing to tie me down when I wanna leave town
Nobody to miss me when I'm gone
Standing on the road walking down the highway...
Standing on the road walking down the highway...

UNDER YOUR SPELL AGAIN
(Buck Owens - Dusty Rhodes)
« © '59 Central Songs, BMI »
You've got me under your spell again saying those things again
Making me believe that you're just mine
You've got dreaming those dreams again thinking those things again
I've gotta take you back just one more time
I swore the last time that you let me down
That I wouldn't see you if you came around
But I can't tell my heart what's right or wrong
And I've been so lonely since you've been gone
You've got me under your spell again...
Well everybody tells me that I'm a fool
That I never should have put my faith in you
And way down deep inside I guess I know it's true
But no one else can make me feel the way I do
You've got me under your spell again...
I've gotta take you back just one more time

WALKING ON NEW GRASS
(Ray Pennington)
« © '66 Tree Publishing, BMI »
I'm like a cloud driftin' from town to town
And each new love just helps me on my way
No one woman's ever gonna tie me down
When one gets too close I just back up and say
I gotta be walkin' on new grass singin' a new song
Tomorrow there's no tellin' where I'll be
But I'll be walkin' on new grass singin' a new song
The next time up the road keeps callin' me
Well I'm warnin' you don't fall in love with me
Cause I don't plan on being here too long
You're just a leaf caught in a playfull breeze
I'm gonna carry you a while then I'll be movin' on
Gotta be walkin' on new grass singin' a new song...
[ steel ]
I won't take roots I never stay that long
Oh a bad seed just won't grow anyway
This rolling stone don't wanna gather no moss
So when the grass starts to grow then I'll be on my way
Gotta be walkin' on new grass singin' a new song...

HERE WE GO AGAIN
(Russell Steagall - Don Lanier)
« © '67 Dirk Music, BMI »
Here we go again she's back in town again
I'll take her back again one more time
Here we go again the phone will ring again
I'll be her fool again one more time
I've been there before and I'll try it again
But any fool knows that there's no way to win
Here we go again she'll break my heart again
I'll play the part again one more time
I've been there before...
I'll take her back again one more time

HEARTACHES BY THE NUMBER
(Harlan Howard)
« © '59 Tree Publishing, BMI »
Heartache number one was when you left me
I never knew that I could hurt this way
And heartache number two was when you come back again
You came back but never meant to stay
Now I've got heartaches by the number troubles by the score
Every day you love me less each day I love you more
Yes I've got heartaches by the number a love that I can't win
But the day that I stop counting that's the day my world will end
Heartache number three was when you called me
And said that you were coming back to stay
With hopeful heart I waited for your knock on the door
I waited but you must have lost your way
Now I've got heartaches by the number...
But the day that I stop counting that's the day my world will end

TAKE A LITTLE GOOD WILL HOME
(Jerry Chesnut)
« © '67 Tree Publishing, BMI »
Well I've always been a real free hearted kind of a feller
I've been known to give away the shirt right off of my back
To buy drinks and dance with every little girl that look lonely
A little common sense is about the only thing I lack
Well I just stopped here to drink one beer on a payday
I got to feelin' real good the way a workin' man should about five
Now my money's all gone and I gotta go home to my baby
And she thinks I'm about the greatest little man alive
But she's been telling me that charity begins at home
And saying Willy if you're gonna be late at least phone
One man good will industry she's been a calling me
And sayin' Willy you oughta bring a little good will home
[ guitar ]
Well I should have known better to listen to you bartenders
But when advice is free it's all a fool like me can afford
And after listenin' to you I feel a whole lot worse instead of better
I could blame it on the talking but it might have been the drinks you poured
And now you're telling me that charity begins at home...
And sayin' Willy you sure took a good will home

SHE THINKS I STILL CARE
(Dickey Lee - Steve Duffy)
« © '62 Glad Music, BMI / Pappy Daily Music, BMI / Songs Of PolyGram, BMI »
Just because I asked a friend about her
Just because I spoke her name somewhere
Just because I rang her number by mistake today
She thinks I still care
Just because I haunt the same old places
Where the mem'ry of her lingers everywhere
Just because I'm not the happy guy I used to be
She thinks I still care
If she's happy thinking I still need her
Then let that silly notion bring her cheer
Oh how could she ever be so foolish
And where would she get such an idea
Just because I asked a friend about her
Just because I spoke her name somewhere
Just bacause I saw her then went all to pieces
She thinks I still care she thinks I still care

DIME AT A TIME
(Jerry Chesnut - Dottie Bruce)
« © '67 Tree Publishing, BMI »
My whole life's saving's a two dollar bill
That's why I'm here tonight I've got the time to kill
And I can tell my story about twenty times
With two dollars in the jukebox one dime at a time
Two dollars in the jukebox a dime at a time
Play the same old song about a love gone wrong till closing time
Two dollars oughta do me if you'll buy the wine
And I'll put in the jukebox one dime at a time
[ guitar ]
Pardon me mister mind if I sit down
A misery loves company and I believe I've found
Somebody just as lonely but don't believe I'm wrong
If you had a place to go to you'd've done been gone
Two dollars in the jukebox a dime at a time...
And I'll put in the jukebox one dime at a time

CRAZY ARMS
(Ralph Mooney - Chuck Seals)
« © '56 Tree Publishing, BMI / Songs Of Universal, BMI »
Now blue ain't the word for the way that I feel
And the storm's brewing in this heart of mine
This ain't no crazy dream I know that it's real
You're someone else's love now you're not mine
Crazy arms that reach to hold somebody new
For my yearning heart keeps saying you're not mine
My troubled mind knows soon to another you'll be wed
And that's why I'm lonely all the time
So please take the treasured dreams I had for you and me
And take all the love I thought was mine
Someday my crazy arms may hold somebody new
But now I'm so lonely all the time
Crazy arms that reach to hold somebody new...
And that's why I'm lonely all the time

I AIN'T BROKE BUT I'M BADLY BENT
(Fred Carter)
« © '67 Tree Publishing, BMI »
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent
I had a little money but that's all been spent
When I look back I wonder where it went
It ain't no joke I ain't broke but I'm badly bent
I went to see a so-called friends
To get a little help for the tie I was in
I said I'll pay you back someday when my rich uncle passes away
But he looked at me kinda foolishly and then he had these words to say
He said I ain't broke but I'm badly bent...
Then I called my true love on the phone
The one I spent my last dollar on
I said I'll pay you back someday when my rich uncle passes away
But she said I'm through with the likes of you
And she had a quite few more words to say
She said I ain't broke but I'm badly bent...
It ain't no joke I ain't broke but I'm badly bent
