REAL THING
(Chris Ledoux)

His boots are old and tattered his Stetson has seen it's better days
His hands are rough and calloused and what's left of his hair is turning grey
He ain't as tall and handsome as cowboys up on the movie screen or in a magazine
He ain't no coke a cola cowboy he's the real thing
He rides across the praire out where the wild wind blows
And he still works his cattle just like a hundred years ago
Sittin' tall in the saddle Lord he feels just like a king
Mhm he ain't no coca cola cowboy he's the real thing
There's a woman that loves him and she knows what real love's all about
She's cooked his meals washed his clothes
And raised the kids and learned to go without
And if she could do it over heavens knows she wouldn't change a thing not a sing thing
Her her knight in shining armor and she loves him cause he's the real thing
He rides across the praire...
Naw he ain't no rhinestone cowboy he's the real thing

LITTLE LONG HAIRED COWBOY
(Chris Ledoux)
« © '86 Lehsem Songs, BMI »
Well I have been a cowboy, dang near all my life
That good ol' cowboy music is all I'm supposed to like
But here lately I don't know what's happening
But I'm losin' control I'm losin' control to a little longhaired outlaw
Who's a ridin' somewhere deep down in my soul he likes rock and roll
Well he rides a pinto stallion down the canyons of my mind
Makes camp beneath a memory below the timberline
Got a little electric fender guitar plugs direct into my soul
Right into my soul turns up the volume
Bends them guitar strings and plays that rock and roll ah and here he goes
Well I can be do a concert strummin' along just fine
Playing Little Joe The Wrangler when somethin' snaps inside my mind
And I can feel that longhaired music wellin' up from the rivers of my soul
Where the music flows when that little longhair takes over
And makes me play that rock and roll
Now if you like cowboy music and you don't like this song
Well I'd like to apologize if the tune kinda came out wrong
But you see I can't help myself the little longhair has got control and he won't let go
But I'll get back to my cowboy music
But sometimes you gotta play a little rock and roll
It's my turn it's about time

JUST ENOUGH MONEY HONEY
(Chris Ledoux)
« © '86 Lehsem Songs, BMI »
Every time the end of the month finally rolls our way
We've got just enough money honey to see that the bills get paid
But this time we've got an extra hundred dollars and I'll tell you what we outta do
Let's go downtown and throw it around and just blow it on just me and you
We can take the kids to your mama's cause our good times overdue
We can dance all night and do it up allright but before the night is through
Let's drive down to the river the way we used to do
Let's take a little money honey and blow it on me and you
Well I've been doin' the best I can just to bring the bacon home
And you've been slavin' every day to make this house a home
But I've heard that too much work well it sure ain't good for you
So let's take a little money honey and blow it on me and you
We can take the kids to your mama's cause our good times overdue.
We can dance all night and do it up right but before the night is through
Let's drive down by the river the way we used to do
Let's take a little money honey and blow it on me and you
Well let's take a little money honey and blow it on me and you

I DO IT FOR ME
(Steve Buttell)

Meet a rodeo cowboy in Billings killing time trading stories and beer
And asked him how he made a living riding broncs and bull doggin' steers
Well he smiled as he tipped his hat slowly he said friend it ain't all like it seems
While some folks are makin' a livin' others are livin' their dreams
And some cowboys ride for the buckle some for the rodeo name
Some like the sound or the thrill of the crowd and others got no place to stay
Some do it for love and others for money some ride for glory or fame
But through all of my seasons of all of the reasons
I've stayed on this circuit for me
I said I've been on this suicide circuit for the best part of fifteen long years
Don't let this ol porker face fool you because beneath it a measure of fear
I've been beat, I've been down I've been busted till my body was cryin' with pain
Take a couple of days and shake it all off and you do it all over again
And some cowboys ride...
I've stayed on this circuit for me

WILD AND WOOLY
(Chris Ledoux)

I've been workin' all week long out in the saddle
I lay my bed roll down at night out on the range
Cussin' dust and heat and fly's and cattle
All this romance can drive a poor cowboy insane
And that lonesome coyote's a howlin' on the prairie
And that big Wyoming moon is shinnin' down
Well it's Saturday night and you know its customary
For a wild and wooly cowboy to ride to town
Well I just got paid and my pockets are full of money
I can't stand no more I can't wait another day
I got to ride to town I gotta see my little green eyed honey
We're going to dance and romance and love the night away
And that lonesome coyote's...
I'm gettin' sick and tired of just sleepin' on the ground
Come on Buck let's go to town

BORN IN MISSISSIPPI
(Chris Ledoux)
« © '86 Lehsem Songs, BMI »
I was born in Mississippi on the Gulf of Mexico
And I could hear the Gators a roar at night out on the old bayou
I remember Spanish Moss a hangin' from the cypress trees
And the smell of Honey Suckle on the Mississippi breeze
Thank you Mississippi for lovin' me
Thank you for givin' this country boy a place to dream
Thank you for old Cane Pole the fishin' hole
The grits and black eyed peas thank you Missippi for lovin' me
Then my family moved down to Texas when I was 12 years old
I took my first chew of plug tobacco and got hooked on rodeo
I rode my Buckskin pony where the old Red River flows
And my Texas pride still makes me cry when I remember the Alamo
Thank you Texas for loving me thank you for the country road the horny toads
The chile and pinto beans thank you Texas for lovin' me
Now I live up in Wyoming I love home out on the range
But every now and then my mind goes roamin'
Down those country roads through my boy hood days
And after all these years I'd just like to say
Thank you America for lovin' me
Thank you for givin' this country boy a place to dream
Thank you for the country roads the folks I've known
From sea to shinning sea thank you America
Thank you mom and dad for lovin' me

RUNNING THROUGH THE WIND
(Chris Ledoux)
« © '86 Lehsem Songs, BMI »
Last night we rode our broncs in Seattle me and Bill packed the car in the pourin' rain
Witch and John were at the beer stand gettin' sprung
But we got 'em gathered and hit the road again
Chewin' snoose and spittin' in a bottle with country music blastin' on the radio
Talkin' girls and broncs and gold beltbuckles rollin' south to a California rodeo
Just rollin' down that great American highway with the mornin' sky lit up like a flame
Chasin' dreams and followin' a rainbow like children runnin' through the rain
Well it's rodeo time in Oakdale California
And we stumble with the trash out of the car
And ole Bill looks at me through whiskers and wild red eyeballs
And says we look more like hobo's than big-time rodeo stars
Well we ride our broncs and we all win a little money
And there's Witch over at the beer stand again
But look he's got his arm around a little California honey
And Bill says I wonder if that lady there's got any friends
Just rollin' down that great...
Well the years went by and now we've all got families
Ah but we still get together every now and then
And we talk about all the bad broncs and good times
Lord sometimes I wish I was back on that road again
Just rollin' down that great...
Just chasin' dreams and followin' a rainbow
Like crazy children runnin' through the rain

I BELIEVE IN AMERICA
(Chris Ledoux)
« © '86 Lehsem Songs, BMI »
This country's seen some hard times Lord knows she's deep in debt
She's comin' through another depresion and for some it ain't over yet
We've all been divided playin' our own selfish games
Why's it always take the hard times to get people back together again
But I believe in America I believe in America
One nation underr God still proud and strong
I believe in America I'm proud to be in America
Though I know in America we've got to right some worngs
But I don't believe you can keep America down for long
Now if you read the papers or listen to the news these days
Sometimes it don't look like ther's much hope for the good old USA
This country she ain't perfect ah but thank God she's still free
And she's gonna' make her comeback yes sir just you wait and see
But I believe in America...

COWBOY SONGS
(Chris Ledoux)
« © '86 Lehsem Songs, BMI »
Well I wake up in the mornin' I brew my coffee hot and strong
I get out my ole guitar and try to write a song
An them larks are singin oh lord just outside
And I'm stuck here in this kitchen tryin' to write
And I'm writin' these cowboy songs yodellehe cowboy songs
Just me and my beat up ole guitar
Cowboy songs yodellehe cowboy songs
Well maybe one of these cowboy songs is gonna make me a star
Now Hank Williams Jr writes 'em rough and sings 'em tough
And Charlie Daniels sings a song about the devil
And Waylon and Willie sing about whatever they like
And I'll probably be sing these cowboy songs for the rest of my life
And I'm writin' these cowboy songs...
Well this don't sound like Strawberrie Row or that lonesome cattle call
And you might think that it don't sound nothin' like a cowboy song at all
But it is cause I wrote it and I'm a real life buckaroo
And I wrote this silly little cowboy song especially for you
And I'm writin' these cowboy songs...
