Alison Krauss had been recording a decade before she gained stardom, but she became a star in a big way. Now That I've Found You: A Collection, a retrospective of her ten-year recording career for Rounder, became the surprise hit of 1995, rocketing to number two on the country charts and into the Top 15 on the pop charts, which is remarkable for a musician who had never captured the attention of a mass audience. It may have been a surprising success, but it also was deserved. Krauss was arguably the leading bluegrass musician of the late '80s and early '90s, pushing the music into new directions without losing sight of its roots. Now That I've Found You does a splendid job of chronicling her career, hitting all of the highlights and making a new listener eager to seek out her albums.

Baby now that I've found you I won't let you go I'll build my world around you

Baby baby when first we met I knew in this heart of mine
That you were someone I couldn't forget I sit and I bide my time
Spent my life looking for that somebody to make me feel like a fool
Now you tell me that you wanna leave me but darling I just can't let you

(Mick Ralphs)
« © '94 Badco Music, ASCAP »

Same old place same old city what can I do I'm falling in love
I'm just an old hound dog roaming around oh Lord I've got all this and heaven above

Oh Atlanta I hear you calling I'm coming back to you one fine day
No need to worry there ain't no hurry
I'm on my way back to Georgia on my way back to Georgia

I get a feeling in me when I remember all those crazy days and crazier nights
Can't you hear the music playing you must have heard them saying
We're gonna rip 'em up and light up the night
Oh Atlanta I hear you calling...
[ guitar ]
Same old place same old city...
Oh Atlanta I hear you calling...

BROADWAY
(Sidney Cox - Suzanne Cox)
« © '94 Sidney Lawrence Music, BMI / Marla Music, BMI »

I stood on faith and the corner of ambition
I came here to sink or swim and to show them all
That they were wrong and though I never thought I'd make it this far
So the curtains are down for the moment I was someone
There were those in the wings who waited who came this way now they're gone
But there's always someone at home who never forgets who you are
And when I'm down and I'm growing old it won't be long or I won't try
I won't be bound to a life out in the cold
It's been a steady pace to keep my steps between these cracks on Broadway
And my stride in rhythm to the beat of home sweet home
[ piano - mandolin ]
When I'm down and I'm growing old...

Can't go on I'm on the top of my better years
I'm going home it's too lonesome on the bottom rung here
It's been a steady pace...

EVERY TIME YOU SAY GOODBYE
(John Pennell)
« © '92 Solar Grass Music, BMI »

Look at the sky baby what do you see looks like the tears that I cry
Fallin' down like rain on the ground every time you say goodbye
Take a look around now why don't you feel the way that cold wind stings and bites
And your words just are like arrows through my heart every time you say goodbye
There's a restless feeling knocking at my door today
There's a shadow hanging round my garden gate
I read between the lines of words you can't disguise
Love has gone away and put these tears in my eyes
[ banjo ]
Look at the sky baby see how it cries ain't it just like my tears
Fallin' down like rain on the ground every time you say goodbye
[ fiddle ]
There's a restless feeling...
There's a restless feeling...
[ mandolin ]

TONIGHT I'LL BE LONELY TOO
(Sidney Cox)
« © '90 Sidney Lawrence Music, BMI »

It's like I've always figured you'd be gone from me so soon
A heartache would be the outcome and I'd be singing this lonely tune
Your friends all tell me your happy now and how good she's treating you
It looks to be the perfect love well tonight I'll be lonely too
You're only trying to show me it's no use the pain's in your eyes
I know you've been so unhappy talk of new love the words are all lies
So you'll go on pretending like always well tonight I'll be lonely too
[ dobro - fiddle ]
You're only trying to show me...

TEARDROPS WILL KISS THE MORNING DEW
(Paul Craft)
« © '72 Rocky Top Music, BMI »

When time was young we walked the road together
When love was sweet I meant the world to you
Now comes the sun we'll say goodbye forever
And teardrops will kiss the morning dew

Take me and make me your lover one more time close in your arms as before
Till over your shoulder the early morning shines
Then I'll leave you and breathe you no more
When time was young...
[ fiddle - dobro ]
Daisies need sunshine and roses need rain so it was all meant to be
The wild bird needs wings free to take to the wind
And so it was meant for you and me
When time was young...
Teardrops will kiss the morning dew

SLEEP ON
(Nelson Mandrell)
« © '87 Happy Valley Music, BMI »

Could your heart ever be mine
Your arms hold me so close to you all throught the night
Your eyes gaze into mine
Sayin' I should believe you I always do I don't know why
Cause you taught me a lesson the hard way one time
Told me you loved me but then changed your mind
I never told no one how I hurt down inside until now sleep on

Could your heart ever be mine
My arms hold you so close to me all through the night
My heart warned me this time
But I need to believe you so I do just for tonight
Cause you taught me a lesson...
Sleep on sleep on

WHEN GOD DIPS HIS PEN OF LOVE IN MY HEART
(Ralph Hill - Bobby Atkins)
« © '95 MCA Music, ASCAP »

When God dips his pen of love in my heart
And He writes my soul a message he wants me to know
His spirit all divine fills a sinful soul of mine
When God dips his love in my heart
Well I said I wouldn't tell it to a livin' soul
How he brought salvation and he made me whole
But I found I couldn't hide such a love as Jesus did impart
Well he made me laugh and he made me cry set my sinful soul on fire
When God dips his love in my heart

Well sometimes though the way is dreary dark and cold
And some unburdened sorrow keeps me from the goal
I go to God in prayer I can always find him there
To whisper sweet peace to my soul
Well I said I wouldn't tell it...

He walked up every step of Calvary's rugged way
And gave his life completely to bring a better day
My life was steeped in sin but in love he took me in
His blood washed away every stain
I said I wouldn't tell it...

I WILL
(John Lennon - Paul McCartney)
« © '68 ATV Tunes, ASCAP »

Who knows how long I've loved you do you know I love you still
Will I wait a lonely lifetime if you want me to I will
For if I ever saw you I didn't catch your name
But it never really mattered I will always feel the same

Love you forever and forever love you with all my heart
Love you whenever we're together love you when we're apart
And when at last I find you your song will fill the air
Sing it loud so I can hear you make it easy to be near you
For the things you do endear you to me you know I will I will

I DON'T BELIEVE YOU'VE MET MY BABY
(Autry Inman)
« © '55 Tree Publishing, BMI »

I went strolling in the evening underneath the harvest moon
I was thinking about you
Then we met out in the moonlight the stars we shining in your eyes
But another was there too

I don't believe you've met my baby he looked at me he looked at you
You wondered who I was talking to
I shook the hand of your stranger but I was shaking more inside
I was still wondering who
His arms were resting on my shoulders he smiled at you he smiled at me
His eyes were filled with victory

He said my sister was to marry then it was oh so plain to see
I knew that you would marry me
I don't believe you've met my baby I knew that you would marry me

IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND
(Ron Block)
« © '93 Moonlight Canyon Publishing, BMI »

If I could have the world and all it owns a thousand kingdoms a thousand thrones
If all the earth were mine to own with wealth my only goal
I'd spend my gold on selfish things without the love that your life brings
Just a little bit more is all I'd need till life was torn from me
I'd rather be in the palm of your hand though rich or poor I may be
Faith can see right through the circumstance sees the forest in spite of the trees
Your grace provides for me
[ fiddle ]
If I should walk the streets no place to sleep no faith in promisess you keep
I'd have no way to buy my bread with a Bible for my bed
But if I trust the one who died for me who shed his blood to set me free
If I live my life to trust in you your grace will see me through
I'd rather be in the palm of your hand...
[ dobro - fiddle ]
I'd rather be in the palm of your hand
I'd rather be in the palm of your hand

WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL
(Don Schlitz - Paul Overstreet)
« © '87 Don Schlitz Music, ASCAP / Scarlet Moon Music, BMI »

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without you saying a word you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain what I hear when you don't say a thing
The smile on your face lets you know that you need me
There's truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand says you'll catch me
If ever I fall yeah you say it best when you say nothing at all

All day long I hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near you drown out the crowd
Old Mr Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face...
