Though it lacked a strong set of songs, the Judds' eponymous debut album established that the vocals of Wynonna and Naomi played off of each other beautifully, and songs like the hit "Had A Dream (For the Heart)" provide the foundation for their later hit singles. The best moments on The Judds have been compiled on their numerous hit compliation, yet it remains a pleasant listen for most dedicated fans.

HAD A DREAM (FOR THE HEART)
(Dennis Linde)
« © '75 Combine Music, BMI »
Had a dream about you baby had a dream bout me and you
Had a dream and I woke up cryin'
Well I can try but I just can't stop and the time's draaggin' by ticktock
For my heart it just can't love no one but you
Well I'm high and dry and lonely I'm as lonesome as can be
And I stare out of my window
Well I can play but I just can't win and the weather's looking mighty grim
For my heart it just can't love no one but you
Oh my heart it can't love no one but you
My heart can't love no one but you
Oh my heart it just can't love no one but you
Oh my heart can't love no one but you
My heart can't love no one but you
Oh my heart it just can't love no one but you
Had a dream about you baby...
For my heart it just can't love no one but you

JOHN DEERE TRACTOR
(Lawrence Hammond)

Dear mama here's a letter from your girl
Well I think my city days are done mom
And it ain't been three weeks since I came
And mama do remember what you said
Say your prayers before you go to bed child
And remember city boys ain't the same
I'm like a John Deere Tractor in a half acre field
Tryin' to plow a furrow where the soil is made of steel
How I wish I was home mom where the blue grass is growin'
And the sweet country boys don't complain
And mama so much perfume I thought I'd drown
And the Lord didn't seem to be nowhere around
Hey I felt just like a flower from the vine
I'm like a John Deere Tractor in a half acre field
Tryin' to plow a furrow where the soil is made of steel
How I'd like to be home mom where the blue grass is growin'
And the fire light shimmers and it shines
I'm like a John Deere Tractor...

ISN'T HE A STRANGE ONE
(Kent M. Robbins)
« © '83 Kent Robbins Music, BMI »
I want to tell bout my lover
And I want to tell you bout my best friend
Compared to all the others he's a little bit different
A friend saw him on the town
Said he was turning all the pretty girls down
She said you really should be proud of him
Isn't he a strange one
He thinks coming on to me is a whole lot of fun
He doesn't want anybody else but me
Isn't he a strange one
He thinks I hung the moon he's pretty sure I was the one
And I'm glad he'll never be a stranger to me
I know he's one in a million
When he says I'm the one that he's dreaming of
I hope he doesn't wake up anytime soon from this honeymoon
My girlfriends are turnin' green with envy
They wanna know are there anymore at home like him
Cupid must be really watchin' over me
Isn't he a strange one...
Yeah I' m glad he'll never be a stranger to me
Isn't he a strange one isn't he a strange one

CHANGE OF HEART
(Naomi Judd)
« © '83 Mike Curb Music, BMI »
When you were mine I was still playing
Promises I made were just words I was saying
I was playing you for a fool breaking love's precious rule
I did you so wrong guess you knew all along
That I had my boss lie for me to say I was working late
My friends alibied for me while I'd slip out to meet a date
But baby now I see I was only cheatin' me
Before you go I just want you to know
That I've had a change of heart I've had a change of heart
See what I've put you through I'll make it up to you
I've had a change of heart
I've just got to show you how differently I feel
That I can be true that my love is real
But my past will forever haunt me if you say that you don't want me
I'm down on my knees I'm begging you please
Won't you have a change of heart
Please have a have a change of heart
I see what I put you through and I'll make it up to you
Please have a change of heart oh please have a change of heart
Please have a change of heart

BLUE NUN CAFE
(Harlan Howard - Brent Maher)
« © '83 Tree Publishing, BMI / Welbeck Music, ASCAP / Welk Music, ASCAP »
He's a devil mama he's a lover
And I know that I should run for cover
He's a looker and mama he's lookin' at me
Well I know he's a real heart breaker
A great pretender and a real love faker
But I'm gonna bring him to his knees
I can read your mind by the words that you don't say
You think I'm thrown' my young love away
Well I was already gone when he called me today
We're gonna meet at the Blue Nun Cafe
Well, the lights are low and it's kinda hazy
The music's loud and it's kinda crazy
But on Saturday night it's the place to be
Well I'll be there and I'll be his baby
And I'll remember how to be a lady
So mama don't you worry about me
I can read your mind by the words...

MAMA HE'S CRAZY
(Kenny O'Dell)
« © '83 Kenny O'Dell Music, BMI »
Mama I found someone like you said would come along
He's a sight so unlike any man I've known
I was afraid to let him in cause I'm not the trusting kind
But now I'm convinced that he's heaven send and must be out of his mind
Mama he's crazy crazy over me
And in my life is where he says he always wants to be
I've never been so loved he beats all I've ever seen
And mama he's crazy crazy over me
And mama you always said better look before you leap
Maybe so but here I go let my heart lead me
He thinks I hung the moon and stars I think he's a living dream
But there are men but ones like him are few and far between
Mama he's crazy crazy over me...
Oh and mama he's crazy crazy over me
