(Bob Dylan) « © '63 Special Rider Music, SESAC »
Honey just allow me one more chance to get along with you
Honey just allow me one more chance do anything with you
Well I'm a walkin' down the road with my head in my hand
I'm lookin' for a woman needs a worried man
One kind favor I ask of you allow me just one more chance
[ fiddle ] Honey just allow me one more chance to ride your aeroplane
Honey just allow me one more chance to ride your passanger train
Well I'm lookin' all over for a gal like you
I can't find nobody so you'll have to do
One kind favor I ask of you allow me just one more chance
[ dobro ] Honey just allow me one more chance to get along with you
Honey just allow me one more chance do anything with you
Well I'm lookin' for a woman that well no man
Lookin' for a needle that's lost in the sand
One kind favor I ask of you allow me just one more chance

I WALK THE LINE

(Johnny Cash) « © '56 House Of Cash, BMI »
I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine I walk the line

Mhm I find it very very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day is through
Yes I'll admit that I'm a fool for you
Because you're mine I walk the line

Mhm just sure as night is dark and day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
And happiness I've known proves that I'm right
Because you're mine I walk the line

Mhm you've got a way to keep me on your side
Give me cause for love that I can't hide
For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide
Because you're mine I walk the line

Mhm I keep a close watch...
Because you're mine I walk the line

TONIGHT WILL BE FINE

(Leonard Cohen) « © '69 ATV Songs, BMI »
Sometimes I'm fine I get to thinking of the past
We swore to each other that our love would surely last
You kept right on lovin' I went on a fast
Now I'm too thin and your love is too vast
But I know from your eyes and I know from your smile
That tonight will be fine will be fine will be fine will be fine for awhile

I'd choose the room but I live in the can
The windows are small and the walls are almost square
There's only one bed and there's only one chair
I listen all night for the step on the stair

But I know from your eyes...
[ ac.guitar - banjo ] Sometimes I see her undressing for me
Bhe's a soft naked lady love meant to be
And she's moving her body so brave and so free
A fact to remember that's a fine memory

And I know from your eyes...
And I know from her eyes...

BOY NAMED SUE

(Shel Silverstein) « © '69 Evil Eye Music, BMI »
Well my daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much for Ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze
Now I don't blame him because he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left he went and named me Sue
Well he must have thought it was quite a joke
And it got lots of laughs from a lot of folks
It seems I had to fight my whole life through
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
Some guy would laugh and I'd bust his head
I tell you life ain't easy for a boy named Sue
Well I grew up quick and I grew up mean
My fist got hard and my wits got keen
I roamed from town to town to hide my shame
Well I made my vows to the moon and stars
I'd search the honky tonks and the bars
And kill that man that gave me that awful name
Well it was Gatlinsburg in mid July
nd I just hit town and my throat was dry
I'd thought I'd stop and have myself a brew
At an old saloon on a street of mud
There at a table dealing stud
Sat that dirty mangy dog that named me Sue
Well I knew that sneak was my own sweet dad
From a wornout picture that my mother had
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye
He was big and bent and gray and old
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said my name is Sue how do you do
Now you're gonna die yeah that's what I told him
Well I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down but to my surprice
He came up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear
Well I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kickin' and a gougin' in the mud and the blood and the beer
I tell you I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when
He kicked like a mule and bit like a crocodile
I heard him laug and I heard him cuss
He went for his gun and I pulled mine first
He stood there looking at me and I saw him smile
And he said son this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it he's gotta be tough
And I know I wouldn't be there to help you along
So I gave you that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's that name that helped to make you strong
He said you fought one heck of a fight
And I know you hate me and you've got the right
To kill me now I wouldn't blame you if you do
But you oughta thank me before I die
For the gravel in your guts and the spit in your eye
For I'm the uh-huh uh-huh that named you Sue
(Lester what the hell that you say) Yeah what could I do
I got all choked up and I threw down the gun
Called him a Pa and he called me son
And I come away with a different point of view
And I think about him now and then
Every time I tried every time I win
And if I ever have a son I think I'll name him
Well I ain't gonna name him Sue
I'm gonna call him Johnny Cash

MAGGIE'S FARM

(Bob Dylan) « © '65 Special Rider Music, SESAC »
Well I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more
Well I wake up in the morning fold my hands and pray for rain
I got a head full of ideas that are drivin' me insane
It's a shame the way she makes me scrub the floor
And I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more
[ banjo ] Well I ain't gonna work on Maggie's brother no more
No I ain't gonna work on Maggie's brother no more
Well he hands you a nickel he hands you a dime
He asks you with a grin if you're havin' a good time
Then he fines you every time you slam the door
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's brother no more
[ ac.guitar ] Well I ain't gonna work on Maggie's mama no more
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's mama no more
She talks to all the servants about man and God and law
Everybody says she's the brains behind pa
She's sixty eight but she says she's twenty four
And I ain't gonna work on Maggie's mama no more
[ harmonica ] I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more
I try my best to be just like I am
But everybody wants you to be just like them
They sing while you slave and I just get bored
And I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more

WANTED MAN

(Bob Dylan) « © '68 Big Sky Music, SESAC »
Wanted man in California wanted man in Buffalo
Wanted man in Kansas City wanted man in Ohio
Wanted man in Mississippi wanted man on old Cheyenne
Wherever you might look tonight you might see this wanted man

I might be in Colorado or Georgia by the sea
Working for some men who may not know at all who I might be
If you ever see me coming and if you know who I am
Don't you breathe it to nobody cause you know I'm on the lam

Wanted man by Lucy Watson wanted man by Jeannie Brown
Wanted man by Nelly Johnson wanted man in this next town
Well I've had all that I wanted for a lot of things I had
And a lot more that I needed of something that turned out bad
[ banjo ] I got sidetracked in El Paso stopped to get myself a nap
Went the wrong way into Juarez with Juanita on my lap
Then I went to sleep in Shreveport woke up in Abilene
Wonderin' why the hell I'm wanted at some town halfway between

Wanted man in Albuquerque wanted man in Siera Cruz
Wanted man in Tallahassee wanted man in Baton Rouge
There's somebody set to grab me anywhere that I might be
And wherever you might look tonight you might get a glimpse of me

Wanted man in California wanted man in Buffalo
Wanted man in Kansas City wanted man in Ohio
Wanted man in Mississippi mhm

RUBY DON'T TAKE YOUR LOVE TO TOWN

(Mel Tillis) « © '66 Cedarwood Publishing, BMI »
You've painted up your lips and rolled and curled your tinted hair
Ruby are you contemplating going out somewhere
The shadow on the wall tells me the sun is going down
Ruby don't take your love to town

It wasn't me who started that old crazy Asian war
But I was proud to go and do my patriotic chores
Yes it's true I'm not the man I used to be
But Ruby I still need your company
[ banjo - dobro ] It's hard to love a man whose legs are bent and paralized
And the wants and the needs of a woman your age Ruby I realize
But it won't be long I've heard them say until I'm not around
Ruby don't take your love to town

She's leaving now cause I've just heard the slamming of the door
The way I know I've heard it slam one hundred times before
And if I could move I get my gun and put her in the ground
Ruby don't take your love to town
Oh Ruby don't take your love to town for God sakes turn around

ONE MORE NIGHT

(Bob Dylan) « © '69 Big Sky Music, SESAC »
One more night the stars are in sight but tonight I'm as lonesome as can be
Oh the moon is shining bright lightning everything inside
But tonight no light will shine on me
Oh it's shamefull and it's sad I lost the only pal I had
I just could not be what she wanted me to be
I will turn my head up high to the dark and rolling sky
But tonight no light will shine on me
I was so mistaken when I thought that she'd be true
I had no idea what a woman in love would do
One more night I will wait for the light while the wind blows high above the tree
I miss my darling so I didn't mean to see her go but tonight no light will shine on me
[ ac.guitar ] One more night the moon is shining bright the wind blows high above the tree
Oh I miss that woman so I didn't mean to see her go
But tonight no light will shine on me

GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY

(Bob Dylan) « © '63 Special Rider Music, SESAC »
Well if you're traveling to the North Country Fair
Where the wind's heavy on the borderline
Remember me to the one who lives there she once was a true love of mine

If you go to the snowflakes storm where the rivers freeze and summer ends
Please see she has a coat so warm to keep her from the howling wind
[ banjo ] Please see if her hair hangs long if it tose and flows all down her breast
Please see for me if her hair's hangin' long that's the way I remember her best

If you're traveling...
She once was a true love of mine

ONE TOO MANY MORNINGS

(Bob Dylan) « © '64 Special Rider Music, SESAC »
Down the street the dogs are barking and the day is getting dark
As the night comes in a falling the dogs will lose their bark
And the silent night will shatter from the sounds inside my mind
I'm just one too many mornings and a thousand miles behind
[ ac.guitar ] From the crossroads of my doorstep my eyes they start to fade
As I turn my head back to the room where my love and I have laid
And I gaze back to the street the sidewalk and the sign
And I'm one too many mornings and a thousand miles behind
[ banjo ] It's a restless hungry feeling that don't mean no one no good
And everything I'm saying you can say it just as good
You're right from your side and I'm right from mine
We're just one too many mornings and a thousand miles behind

Down the street the dogs are barking...
