Kenny Chesney was working parking cars when he got his first songwriting contract. In less than two years he had another contract, this one as a singer. His debut album hit the shelves in 1993. After a couple more years he was signed under a new label and had completed a noteworthy sophomore offering. This is that album, All I Need to Know. The tunes on this recording earned the artist three hit singles. Chesney has been overlooked many times by some of the big players in the world of country music, but that doesn't lessen his ability to please country music fans. He is a gifted singer, performer, and songwriter. In fact, he helped write four of the songs on All I Need to Know. Other numbers were written by talents like Skip Ewing and Bob McDill. You'll find some touching ballads on this album, such as "Grandpa Told Me So," "Me and You," and "The Tin Man." There are also feel-good tunes to pick up the pace, including "The Bigger the Fool (The Harder the Fall)," "Someone Else's Hog," and "Paris, Tennessee." This is a great one to add to your country stockpile.

FALL IN LOVE
(Kim Williams - Buddy Brock - Kenny Chesney)
« © '95 Kim Williams Music, ASCAP / Cross Keys Publishing, ASCAP / Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
A little country church on a two lane road a bride and groom coming out the door
White lace dress and a red bouquet just married written on a blue Chevrolet
Don't that make you want to fall in love don't that look like a picture of us
A match made in heaven if there ever was don't that make you want to fall
That just makes me want to give you my heart ever forever needs a place to start
Gotta be a sign from up above don't that make you want to fall in love
[ guitar ]
Old folks sittin' in a front porch swing still holdin' hands like they were sixteen
Fifty good years their lovers dream darling that could be you and me
Don't that make you...
[ steel ]
Now don't that make you want to fall in love

GRANDPA TOLD ME SO
(James Dean Hicks - Mark Alan Springer)
« © '95 Murrah Music, BMI / Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
If you don't get in the water you're never gonna learn to swim
He said a snake is just as scared of you as you are of it
He could tell by the moon when the fish would bite
Seems there was nothing that he didn't know
And as a kid I believed cause grandpa told me so
He talked daddy into letting me have my first car
I thought I was really something till Becky Thompson broke my heart
That first taste of love really did me in getting over her slow
And I knew someday I would cause grandpa told me so
He said life is made for you to live the best love is the love that you give
There'll be times when you wanna hold on but you gotta let go
And I live by those words cause grandpa told me so
[ guitar ]
I promised him I wouldn't cry when it was his time to leave
That's the only promise I made him I couldn't keep
He smiled from his bed and said we'll meet again somewhere down the road
And I believe cause grandpa told me so
He said life is made...
He said life is made...
Yeah and I still believe grandpa told me so
Grandpa told me so I still believe
Grandpa told me so I still believe

BIGGER THE FOOL (THE HARDER THE FALL)
(Jim Rushing - Larry Cordle)
« © '95 Mighty Chord Music, ASCAP / Universal PolyGram Int, ASCAP / Wanda Chord Music, BMI »
Her long legs looked like trouble as she sasheyed through the door
And my mind flashed a warning sign that I chose to ignore
For the prize I thought that I could win the risk seemed mighty small
The bigger the fool the harder the fall
I fell in love in the heat of passion oh but passion has it's price
Under all that beauty beat a heart that's made of ice
God knows as far as I could see she didn't have a flaw
But the bigger the fool the harder the fall
I said a woman to keep the softer the skin
The sweeter the love the more bitter the end
Well one lesson I've learned that applies to all
The bigger the fool the harder the fall
[ guitar - fiddle ]
One day she was lovin' me the next day she was gone
And I became another verse to a lonesome heartbreak song
Now that I've learned to face this truth the words stick in my craw
Well the bigger the fool the harder the fall
I said a woman to keep...
The bigger the fool the harder the fall

ALL I NEED TO KNOW
(Steve Seskin - Mark Alan Springer)
« © '95 Murrah Music, BMI »
With a little luck this ole truck will get me home today
With a little more I'll still have this job tomorrow
Weatherman says wet weekend he just might be right
But rain or shine you'll be mine tonight
That's all I need to know in a world where most things come and go
I'll always have you to hold and that's all I need to know
Heaven knows I ain't even close to being Gods gift to women
But in your arms I feel like I am
I don't know it all and I sure can't solve the problems of the human race
But I know how to bring a smile to your face
That's all I need to know...
Darling say it one more time you will forever be mine
That's all I need to know...
I'll always have you to hold and that's all I need to know

HONEY WOULD YOU STAND BY ME
(Bob Mc Dill)
« © '95 Ranger Bob Music, ASCAP / Universal Songs Of PolyGram, BMI »
If I quit my job for the simple life honey would you stand by me
If I bought a little cabin on a mountain side honey would you stand by me
Would you be my one true friend stick with me through thick and thin
If the roof was old and the rain came in honey would you stand by me
[ guitar - fiddle ]
If I tried my luck in Hollywood honey would you stand by me
If my break never came like I thought it would honey would you stand by me
Would you be my heart of gold never complain when the money was low
If your coat was thin and your shoes were old honey would you stand by me
[ guitar ]
And if I joined up with the rodeo honey would you stand by me
If we traveled around from show to show honey would you stand by me
Would you be a cowboy's dream smile right on if times got lean
If you didn't have nothing but boots and jeans honey would you stand by me
[ guitar ]
Honey would you stand honey would you stand by me
Honey would you stand honey would you stand by me
Honey would you stand honey would you stand by me

SOMEONE ELSE'S HOG
(David Lowe - Kenny Chesney)
« © '95 Lacy Morgan Music, BMI / Roots And Boots Music, BMI / Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
Well I got a little girl and she's got a daddy
Who's got a lotta money and it makes me happy
To follow them around like a little whipped puppy dog
Well she's my honey but he's my sugar dad
This country boy ain't doin' too bad
Livin' high on someone else's hog
Well I'm livin' high on someone else's hog
I sit around all day like a twenty-four karat bump on a golden log
Well I traded that rusty ol' GMC gotta long black Cadillac limousine
I'm a livin' high on someone else's hog
Well this redneck boy from a blue-collar town
Has really moved up since he got tied down
I got a brand new life and I owe it to my daddy-in-law
Well he gave me a so-called executive position
Now I get up early every day and go fishin'
I'm a livin' high on someone else's hog
Well I'm livin' high...
[ guitar ]
Well I'm livin' high...
Well I traded that rusty ol' GMC...

« © '95 Songs Of Rayman, BMI / Acuff-Rose Music, BMI / Write On Music, BMI »
Ordinary no I really don't think so not a love this true
Common destiny we were meant to be me and you
Like a perfect scene from a movie screen
We're a dream come true suited perfectly for eternity me and you
Everyday well I need you even more and the nighttime too
There's no way I could ever let you go even if I wanted to
Every day I live I try my best to give all I have to you
I thank the stars above that we share this love me and you
[ guitar ]
Everyday well I need you...
Me and you

BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND DAYLIGHT
(Sanger D. Shafer - Kenny Chesney)
« © '95 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI / Roots And Boots Music, BMI »
Their shadows danced closer on the honky tonk walls
As the band plays the last verse to that going home waltz
And they'll start to peril neath the parking lot moon
Some cars and a pickup won't be picked up till noon
Somewhere between midnight and daylight it's an after hours merry-go-round
Somewhere between midnight and daylight there's a whole lot of love lost and found
[ guitar ]
I wish I could say now that I've learned it all
From my observations as a fly on the wall
But if lonesome's a crime oh I'm guilty as sin
Cause tomorrow I'll pick up my ol' pickup again
Somewhere between midnight...
There's a whole lot of love lost and found

(David Lowe - Stacey Slate - Kenny Chesney)
« © '95 Dimensional Songs Of The Knoll, BMI / Longitude Music, BMI / Acuff Rose Music, BMI /

Saw a man in the movies that didn't have a heart
How I wish I could give him mine
Then I wouldn't have to feel it breaking all apart
And this emptiness inside would suit me fine
It's times like these I wish I were a tin man
You could hurt me all you wanted and I'd never even know
I'd give anything just to be the tin man
And I wouldn't have a heart and I wouldn't need a soul
I couldn't see your leavin' comin' you took me by surprise
Even now it still seems like a dream
But I know I can't be dreamin' cause as I lay down each night
The pain so great that it won't let me sleep
It's times like these...
Well I'd give anything just to be the tin man
And I wouldn't have a heart and I wouldn't miss you so
