WHERE'S THE PLAYGROUND BOBBY
(Jim Webb)
« © '68 Jobete Music, ASCAP »
The end has come and found us here with our toys scattered all around us here
The puzzle that we couldn't find an answer for
Still asks us darlin' just what all the games were for
And here we stand in a box of sand
Where's the playground Bobby
You're the one who's supposed to know his way around
Where's the playground Bobby if I don't stay around if I don't stay around
[ steel + piano ]
The carousel has stopped us here it twirled a time or two and then it dropped us here
And still you're not content with something about me
But what merry-go-round could you ride without me
To take your hand oh how would you stand
Where's the playground Bobby...
Where's the playground Bobby...

TOO MUCH OF YOU
(Gene Hood)
« © '67 Gene Hood Music, BMI »
Too much of you still on my mind thinking of you almost all the time
Missing you since you left me behind I've got too much of you still on my mind
When you left I thought maybe it was best for me
Disagree and quarrel all the time
Now I'm not so sure I should have let you go
For I've got too much of you still on my mind
Too much of you still on my mind...
I've got too much of you still on my mind

PARTLY BILL
(Vance Bulla - Steve Allen)
« © '69 Sue-Mirl Music, ASCAP »
There was an emptiness within my life along about the time he came along
And so I guess that you could say that when he came along he came on pretty strong
Cause back then suddenly it seemed to me the emptiness within me had been filled
And when I wondered what the reasons were
I had to answer at least partly Bill partly Bill partly Bill
I can remember hearing music with the pretty words of love he had to say
And I reacall the times of laughter and the joy that I felt on our wedding day
He was the only real fulfillment that the world has shown me yet and even still
I know that I'm a different person
And a part of me is surely partly Bill partly Bill partly Bill
But then the sad part of the story came when Bill just seemed to lose his love for me
And when he left me the effect on me was plain enough for anyone to see
But then when everybody asked me what was on my mind I shyly answered them
I said it's not a great big problem
But I will admit the problem's partly him partly him partly Bill
Now here I am and everybody thinks I'm all alone with no one to call mine
But I don't feel my life is empty all I need is just the passing of some time
I've got a special feeling deep inside me telling me that he is with me still
And when the baby grows up strong and tall
I'll tell them all that he is partly Bill partly Bill partly Bill

BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY
(Liz Anderson)
« © '68 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
Oh mama mama who told you that lie
Whoever told you that big girls don't cry
When I was a baby on my mama's knee
She would kiss all my teardrops away so tenderly
I'd get hurt and the tear would well up in my eye
And she hold me and tell me that big girls don't cry
Oh mama mama who told you that lie
Whoever told you that big girls don't cry
Then out of nowhere like an angel he came
I felt all his kisses and he promised me a ring
He held me caressed me then told me goodbye
Mama don't let them tell you that big girls don't cry
Oh mama mama he told me goodbye
Don't let them tell you that big girls don't cry
Oh mama mama who told you that lie
Whoever told you that big girls don't cry

PILLOW THAT WHISPERS
(Cal Veale)
« © '66 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
As dawn melts the darkness a lonely night ends
I cry the hurt seems so strong now
My arms just keep reaching where his head used to lay
On the pillow that whispers he's gone now
Echo's on down the hall when I talk to the wall
It would be easy to lose all control now
Cause here next to me where my baby used to be
Is a pillow that whispers he's gone now
[ strings + piano ]
A fool is so lonely and how the tears burn
I know I must stop this hurt somehow
I'm so tired of sleeping I've been crying all night
On the pillow that whispers he's gone now
Echo's on down the hall...

LOVE OF THE COMMON PEOPLE
(Ronnie Wilkins - John Hurley)
« © '67 Tree Publishing, BMI »
Livin' on free food tickets water in the milk from the hole in the roof
Where the rain comes through what can you do hmm
Tears from little sister cryin' cause she doesn't have a dress without a patch
For the party to go oh but you know she'll get by
She is livin' in the love of the common people smiles from the heart of the family man
Daddy's gonna buy her a dream to cling to
Mama's gonna love you just as much as she can she can
It's a good thing you don't have a bus fare
It would fall through the hole in your pocket
And you'd lose it on the snow on the ground a walking to town to find a job
Trying to keep your hands warm
But the hole in your shoe let the snow come through
And it chills you to the bone oh you'd better go home where it's warm
And you can live on the love of the common people...
Livin' on dreams ain't easy
But the closer the knit the tighter the fit and the chills stay away
Oh you take 'em in stride a family pride you know that faith is your salvation
And with a whole lotta love and a warm conversation and plenty of prayer
A makin' you strong where you belong
You can live on the love of the common people...

SING A SAD SONG
(Wynn Stewart)
« © '63 Owen Publications, BMI »
Sing me a song of sadness and sing it as blues as I feel
If a tear should appear it's because he's not here sing a sad song and sing it for me
He's unhappy with me he told me so I'm unhappy without him and still love him so
Oh sing me a song of sadness pretend it's the end of the world
Sing it sweet and sing it low and then I'll have to go
Sing a sad song and sing it for me
[ strings + piano ]
He's unhappy with me...

HE EVEN WOKE ME UP TO SAY GOODBYE
(Mickey Newbury - Doug Gilmore)
« © '69 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
Morning comes and Lord my mind is aching sunshine standing quietly at my door
Just like the dawn my heart is silently breaking
With my tears it goes tumbling to the floor
Once again the whole town will be talking Lord I've seen the pity there in their eyes
They'll never understand it's his sorrow not another woman
And no matter what they say I know he tried
Baby's packed everything and he's left me he's left me
And I know he didn't mean to make me cry
It's not his heart Lord it's his mind he didn't mean to be unkind
Why he even woke me up to say goodbye
It's not his heart Lord...
Goodbye baby

THERE OUGHTA BE A LAW
(Betty Jo Gibson)
« © '67 Yonah Music, BMI »
Well there oughta be a law against what he's done
Stole my heart and away he run
Didn't leave me a thing but misery
And there oughta be a law against the way he's hurtin' me
The world keeps turnin' round and round but I'm just sad and still
Since my baby left me I've just lost my will
All my hope get up and go has done got up and gone
I guess it when to find a place where happiness has flown
Well there oughta be a law...
[ steel ]
He used to say he'd be my friend as long as I should please
If all my friends're like him well who needs enemies
They oughta pass a loss and way to lock him off of life
To make him honor and the way and take me for his wife
Well there oughta be a law...

MILLION SHADES OF BLUE
(Gene Hood)
« © '69 Gene Hood Music, BMI »
The dying flames of love are slowly flickering
Upon the walls of dreams I built around you
They slowly sail away leaving scars and loneliness
And my world will be a million shades of blue
My tears will fall on any amber you need
On the rose colored love that we once knew
My plan for happiness will soon be all ashes
And my world will be a million shades of blue
[ strings - piano ]
My tears will fall...
