I'M ALRIGHT
(Bill Anderson)

I'm alright I'm alright
I'm a little bit red in the eyes a little bit hurt in the heart
A little bit weary in the soul but I'm alright I'm alright
You mean I'm worth the dime it took to call me on the phone
Since when are you concerned about the way things are at home
I'm doing fine without you thank you me and the dog and the cat
I don't care what you're doin' and I careless where you're at
Cause I'm alright I'm alright...
[ trumpet ]
The rent's paid through December and there's groceries on the shelf
You're not here to take care of me so I'm takin' care for myself
No I ain't got a job but I have a friend who does
I know that don't sound much like me but I ain't the girl I was
But I'm alright I'm alright...
I'm alright I'm alright...

LOVE ME LOVE ME
(Glenn Sutton - George Richey)
« © '69 Al Gallico Music, BMI »
I've searched so long for love and understanding
Someone to share my dreams as I grow old
And now that I found you and have my arms around you
I don't ever intend to let you go
So darling love me love me that's all that I ask of you
Just love me love me and I'll give all my love to you
[ piano ]
You're more to me than all the words and music
To all the songs the world will ever sing
And with you to walk beside me no clouds can ever hide me
From the sunshine that just one smile can bring
So darling love me love me...

TRY A LITTLE KINDNESS
(Bobby Austin - Curt Sapaugh)
« © '69 Airefield Music, BMI / Glen Campbell Music, BMI / Songs Of Windswept Pacific, BMI »
If you see your brother standing by the road
With a heavy load from the seeds he sowed
And if you see your sister falling by the way
Just stop and say you're going the wrong way
You've got to try a little kindness yes show a little kindness
Shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow minded people on the narrow minded streets
[ steel ]
Don't walk around and down and out
Lend a helping hand instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show every day
Will help someone along their way
You've got to try a little kindness...
You've got to try a little kindness...

MY FRIEND
(Roy Orbison - Bill Dees)
« © '69 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
If I my friend can tell you when you my friend are wrong
Not to do what you want to just because it's wrong
Well then my friend impassing we've been friends too long
And I my friend must tell you leave that man alone
Your little girl might not understand and you know your little baby would cry
And that would you do if their daddy knew and he told you goodbye
Let it end my friend say it's over and thank the stars above
That you got a home to go on to and a sweet sweet man to love
I must say my friend if you're still my friend leave that man alone
Leave my man alone

HAUNTED HOUSE
(Robert Geddins)
« © '70 B-Flat Publishing, BMI »
I just moved in the new house today
Movin' was hard but I got squared away
Bell started ringin' and changin' that loud
I knew I'd move in a haunted house
Still it made up my mind to stay
And nothin' was a gonna drive me away
When I seen somethin' that gave me the creeps
And one big eye and two big feet
I stood right still and I did the freeze
He just strolled right up to me
He said to me now you better run
(And don't be there when the morning comes)
I said yes I'll be here when the morning comes
I'll be right here and I ain't gonna run
And I thought this house so you know I'm boss
Ain't no haint gonna run me off
In the kitchen my stove was a blazin' hot
The coffee was a boilin' in the cup
Grease had melted in the pan
I had a hunk o'meat in my hand
From out in space there sat a man
On the hot stove with the pots and pans
Say that hot I began to shout
He drank a hot coffee right from the spout
He ate the raw meat right from my hand
And drank the hot grease from the flyin' pan
He looked at me and said you better run
(And don't be here when the morning comes)
I said yes I'll be here when the mornin' comes...

ROCKY TOP
(Boudleaux Bryant - Felice Bryant)
« © '67 House Of Bryant, BMI »
Wish that I was on old Rocky Top down in the Tennessee hills
Ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top ain't no telephone bills
Once I had a man on Rocky Top part bear the other part cat
Wild as a mink but sweet as soda pop and I still dream about that
Rocky Top you'll always be home sweet home to me
Good ole Rocky Top Rocky Top Tennessee Rocky Top Tennessee
Once two strangers climbed old Rocky Top looking for a moonshine still
Straingers ain't come down from Rocky Top I reckon they never will
Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top the dirt's too rocky by far
That's why all the folks on Rocky Top get their corn from a jar
Rocky Top you'll always be...
[ banjo - steel ]
I've had years of cramped up city life trapped like a duck in a pen
All I know is it's a pity life can't be simple again
Rocky Top you'll always be...
Rocky Top Tennessee

SEVEN LONELY DAYS
(Earl Shuman - Alden Shuman - Marshall Brown)
« © '53 Music Sales, ASCAP »
Seven lonely days make one lonely week
Seven lonely nights make one lonely me
Ever since the time you told me we were through
Seven lonely days I've cried and cried for you
Oh my darling I'm crying hoo hoo hoo hoo
There's no use in denying I've cried for you
What's your favorite past time just a making me blue
Last week was the last time I've cried for you
Seven hankies blue I filled with my tears
Seven letters too I filled with my fears
I guess it never paced to make your lover blue
Cause seven lonely days I've cried and cried for you
Oh my darling I'm crying...
Seven lonely days make one lonely week...

DOWN IN THE BOONDOCKS
(Joe South)
« © '65 ATV Songs, BMI »
Down in the boondocks down in the boondocks
People put me down cause that's the side of town I was born in
I love him he loves me but I don't fit in his society
Lord have mercy on the girl from down in the boondocks
Every night I watch the light from the house up on the hill
I love a little boy who lives up there and I guess I always will
But I don't dare knock on his door cause his folks won't let me in
So I'll just have to be content to see him whenever I can
Down in the boondocks...
One find day I'll find a way to move from this old shack
I'll hold my head up like a queen and I never ever will look back
But till that morning when we can walk together hand in hand
But I'll just have to be content to see him wherever I can
Down in the boondocks...
Lord have mercy on the girl from down in the boondocks

PILLOW THAT WHISPERS
(Cal Veale)
« © '66 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
(He's gone now he's gone now)
As dawn mets the darkness a lonely night ends
I cry the hurt seems so strong now
My arms just keep reaching where your head used to lay
On the pillow that whispers he's gone now
Echo's on down the hall when I talk to the wall
It would be easy to lose all control now
Cause here next to me where my baby used to be
Is a pillow that whispers he's gone now
[ piano ]
A fool is so lonely and how the tears burn
I know I must stop this hurt somehow
I'm so tired of sleeping I've been crying all night
On the pillow that whispers he's gone now
Echo's on down the hall...

IF THE CREEK DON'T RISE
(Liz Anderson)
« © '69 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
I been so lonesome I wanna go home ain't been home in ever so long
Goin' back home where happiness lies if the Lord is a willing and the creek don't rise
Goin' back home to see my mama agian all of my family and all of my friends
Wrap myself in family ties if the Lord is a willing and the creek don't rise
If the Lord is a willing and the creek don't rise
Goin' back home where happiness lies a thousand miles of a black road flies
If the Lord is a willing and the creek don't rise
If the Lord is a willing and the creek don't rise
Tired of chasin' fortune and fame tired of tryin' to make me a name
No one cares if I live or I die no one cares but my mama and I
This old world is selfish and cruel dog-eat-dog that's everyone's rule
These all things ain't money can buy
So I'm goin' back home where the grass grows high
If the Lord is a willing and the creek don't rise
If the Lord is a willing...
