STILL

(Bill Anderson)
« © '63 Johnny Bienstock Music, BMI »
(Still) though you broke my heart
(Still) though we're far apart
(I love you still)

(Still) after all this time
(Still) you're still on my mind
(I love you still)

I've lost count of the hours and I've lost track of the days
In fact I've lost just about everything since you went away
Everything that is except the memories you left me
And that's one things that no one can mar
I don't know who you're with I don't even know where you've gone
My only hope is that some day you might hear this song
And you'll know I wrote it especially for you
And I love you wherever you are

(Still) after all this time
(Still) you're still on my mind
(I love you still)

This flame in my heart is like an eternal fire
For every day it burns hotter and every day it burns higher
And I haven't been able to put out one little flicker
Not even with all these tears
My friends think I'm crazy and maybe I am
But I'll carry this torch just as long as I can
For someday you might just decide to come home
And I want you to know I'm still here

(Still) thought you broke my heart
(Still) though you're far apart
(I love you still)

LITTLE BAND OF GOLD

(James Gilbreath)
« © '63 ATV Songs, BMI »
There you were standing there smiling as you made your plans
You were going to leave me and go with him
You said you loved him so and your love would always be
And that's the very same thing you once told to me

And you still had my little golden band on your hand
Does my little band of gold mean nothing to you
To me it means the world but you've torn my world apart
You're leaving me alone with my broken heart
[ trumpet ] There you were standing there...

So take my little golden band from your hand
My little band of gold means nothing to you
To me it meant the world but you've torn my world apart
You're leaving me alone with my broken heart
You're leaving me alone with my broken heart

DOWN CAME THE RAIN

(Eddie Miller)
« © '62 Tree Publishing, BMI »
You told me that you'd love me until the end of time
But you are only human and humans change their minds
You left me without warning and the storm brought me pain
And down down down came the rain

All your love would bring a man so much happiness
That the heavens had to send the rain to devide it up I guess
I stumble through the darkness still calling your name
And down down down came the rain

All your love would bring a man...

FROM A JACK TO A KING

(Ned Miller)
« © '57 Jamie Music, BMI »
From a jack to a king from loneliness to a wedding ring
I played an ace and I won a queen and walked away with your heart
From a jack to a king with no regrets I stackled the cards last night
The Lady Luck played her hand just right to make me king of your heart

For just a little while I thought that I might lose again
Then just in time I saw the twinkle in your eye
From a jack to a king from loneliness to a wedding ring
I played an ace and I won a queen you make me King of your heart
[ strings ] For just a little while I thought...

MOLLY

(Steve Karliski)
« © '63 Screen Gems Music, BMI »
The war began and Henry left his farm
Left his darling Molly with a baby in her arms
Now the war was over and their life could begin
Molly saw her darling standing at the door again

It's so nice to hear your voice again Molly
It's so nice to feel your arms around me Molly
Oh how happy I'd be if I only could see you
My sweet Molly (Molly Molly) please don't cry
(Please don't cry)

Maybe I should have written to let you ahead of time
But I was afraid that you'd worry Molly if you knew that I'd gone blind
Do I hear you crying Molly oh please don't cry you silly thing
See what you've done you've even brought a tear into my eyes

Oh how happy I'd be...

Where's my son what does he look like Molly
Everybody tells me that he took after me golly I wish I could see
Come here little man don't be afraid I'm your daddy
I guess he'll get used to me in time won't he Molly

It's so nice to hear your voice...

GET A LITTLE DIRT ON YOUR HANDS

(Bill Anderson)
« © '63 Tree Publishing, BMI »
When I was a little boy my daddy used to say to me son
We got a little big land and a lotta hard work to be done
Go get your marbels put 'em in the house tear down your castles in the sand
Come with your pappy to the cotton patch and get a little dirt on your hands

Get a little dirt on your hands boy get a little dirt on your hands
If you're gonna grow up to be a big big man
(You gotta) get a little dirt on your hands
(You gotta) get a little dirt on your hands

Well I got to be twenty and I thought I was a pretty big wheel
Left the country for the city met a slicker with a shady deal
He siad hold up the tavern take all the money run as fast as you can
If you're gonna get along in this big bad world
You gotta get a little dirt on your hands

Get a little dirt on your hands boy...

Well it's four in the morning and the warden is a calling my name
Says he's teaching me a lesson gonna send me out to work in the rain
Dig that ditch boy chop that corn I gotta make you understand
Only way to straighten out a guy like you is to get a little dirt on your hands

Get a little dirt on your hands boy...

RESTLESS

(Bill Anderson - Skeeter Davis)
« © '63 Johnny Bienstock Music, BMI »
(Restless restless)
[ piano ] I slept last night in the bus depot in Pittsburg
Tonight I walk the streets of Baltimore
Ain't no telling where I'll be tomorrow
My baby don't care and I don't anymore

I've grown restless (like the wind that blows)
Restless (like nobody knows)
I'm running from the one I'm longing for
Oh I'm restless (and I can't stand still)
Restless (and I never will)
My baby don't care and I don't anymore
(Restless restless)
[ piano ] My baby fell in love with a man in Frisco
Left me standing in the midnight freezing cold
I took a train back east to West Virginia
But there ain't no taking this aching out of my soul

I've grown restless...

IT'S BEEN SO LONG DARLING

(Ernest Tubb)
« © '52 Unichappell Music, BMI »
(It's been so long darling)
It's been such a long time since I gazed into your eyes
(It's been so long darling)
I just wonder if you really realize
That now now just the very thought of seein' you again
Scares me scares me through and through
(It's been so long darling)
Since I had a kiss from you

(It's been so long darling)
It's been such a long time since I had to go away
And if I lived to be a hundred years old I never will forget that day
Although I never mentioned it I cried that whole day long
I feel like I've been gone forever but now I'm coming home

Oh it's been such a long time darling but it won't be long now
And I want you to know that while I've been gone I've kept every single vow
I just hope you're still gonna love me
As much as you did when you told me goodbye
It's been such a long time darling please don't blame me if I cry

(It's been so long darling)...

REVEREND MR BLACK

(Billy Ed Wheeler - Jed Peters)
« © '63 Bexhill Music, ASCAP »
He rode easy in the saddle he was tall and lean
At first you thought nothing but a streak of mean
Could make a man look so downright strong
But one look in his eyes and you know that you was wrong
He was a mountain of a man and I want you to know
He could preach hot hell of freezing snow
He carried a Bible in a canvas sack
The folks just called him the Reverend Mr Black

He was poor as a beggar but he rode like a king
And sometimes in the evening you could hear him sing
I gotta walk that lonesome valley I gotta walk it by myself
Nobody else can walk it for me I gotta walk it by myself
If ever I could have thought this man in black
Was soft or had any yellow up his back

I gave that nation up the day
That a lumberjack came in and it wadn't to pray
He kicked open that meetin' house door
And he cussed everybody up and down the floor
Then when things got quiet in the place
Walked up and cussed in the preacher's face
He hit that reverend like the kick of a mule
To my way of thinking it took a pure fool
To turn the other cheek to that lumberjack
But that's what he did the Reverend Mr Black

He stood like a rock a man among men
And he let that lumberjack hit him again
Then with a voice as kind as could be
Cut him down like a big oak tree

When he said
(You gotta walk that lonesome valley you gotta walk it by yourself
No nobody else can walk it for you you gotta walk it by yourself)

It's been many years since we had to part
And I guess I learned his ways by heart
I can still hear his sermonts ring
Down in the valley where he used to sing
I followed him yes sir and I don't regret it
I just hope that I can be of credit
To his memory for you understand
The Reverend Mr Black was my old man

(You gotta walk that lonesome valley you gotta walk it by yourself
No nobody else can walk it for you you gotta walk it by yourself
You gotta walk that lonesome valley you gotta walk it by yourself
No nobody else can walk it for you you gotta walk it by yourself)

TAKE THESE CHAINS FROM MY HEART

(Fred Rose - Hy Heath)
« © '53 Milene Music, ASCAP »
(Take these chains from my heart and set me free)

Take these chains from my heart and set me free
You've grown cold and no longer care for me
All my faith in you is gone but the heartaches linger on
Take these chains from my heart and set me free

Take these tears from my eyes and let me see
Just a spark of the love that used to be
If you love somebody new let me find a new love too
Take these chains from my heart and set me free
[ piano ] Give my heart just a word of sympathy
Be as fair to my heart as you can be
Then if you no longer care for the love that's beating there
Take these chains from my heart and set me free

(Take these chains from my heart and set me free set me free)

HAPPINESS

(Bill Anderson)
« © '63 Johnny Bienstock Music, BMI »
Happiness happiness the greatest gift that I posses
I thank the Lord I've been blessed
With more than my share of happiness

To me this old world is a wonderful place
And I'm just about the luckiest human in the whole human race
I've got no silver and I've got no gold
Just a whole lot of happiness in my soul

Happiness happiness...

Happiness to me is an ocean tide or a sunset fading on a mountain side
Or maybe a big old heaven full of stars up above
When I'm in the arms of the one I love
Happiness is a field of grain lifting its face to the falling rain
I can see it in the sunshine I breathe it in the rain happiness everywhere

Happiness happiness...

A wise old man told me one time
That happiness is nothing but a frame of mind
I hope when you go to measuring my success
That you don't count my money count my happiness

Happiness happiness...
Happiness happiness...

I WISH IT WAS MINE

(Bill Anderson)
« © '63 Johnny Bienstock Music, BMI »
Somewhere a telephone is ringing right now
Someone's old sweetheart is on the line
She's calling to patch up an old love affair
Oh I wish it was mine

Somebody's writing a letter right now
And saying oh Lawd I was blind
Somebody's darling longs to come home
Oh I wish it was mine

But you never write me and you never phone
There's somebody else on your mind
And somebody's heart is glad you don't love me
Oh I wish it was mine
[ strings ] You never write me and you never phone
There's somebody else on your mind
And somebody's heart is glad that you left me
Oh I wish it was mine
Oh I wish it was mine
