DON'T SHE LOOK GOOD
(Jerry Chesnut)
« © '72 Tree Publishing, BMI »
She was on her way out of your life when I found her
Not knowing which way to turn
She's forgotten the feeling of two arms around her
But it didn't take her long to learn
You had new worlds to conquer
So you didn't want her or anything crampin' your style
But don't she look great in the new dress I bought her
And don't she look good when she smiles
Did you really think you were so all important
She couldn't get by on her own
Did you really think losing you would destroy her
And that's why she kept hangin' on
She stuck to her promise and talked to her conscious
She did all she could for a while
Then picked up the pieces and she started livin'
Now don't she look good when she smiles
Don't she look good in a new dress I bought her
And the new way that she wears her hair
She's in a new world and she's not the same girl
She knows now that somebody cares
You can't believe that the same girl you let go
Could change so in this little while
But don't she look great in a new dress I bought her
And don't she look good when she smiles
Oh don't she look great in a new dress I bought her
And don't she look good when she smiles

THIS LAND THE LORD AND ME
(Jerry Chesnut)
« © '72 Tree Publishing, BMI »
I never knew my mother and the closest that I came
Was a picture that my daddy showed to me
When he held it in two calloused hands and told me son don't cry
This is how the Lord intended things to be
Daddy told me mom grew weaker on the night that I was born
How she sufferend and the doctor didn't come
And when daddy told his Maker Lord if it be Thy will please take her
How the good Lord took his wife and gave a son
As a kid I watched my daddy carve a living from the land
Then when nighttime came he held me on his knee
And prayed the Lord would let him live till I became a man
My daddy loved this land the Lord and me
Now I've been through a war where many died and never got a scratch
And enough of dad rubbed off on me to know how I came back
I'm a living proof the man upstairs still lives and cares and answers
The prayers of the man who loved this land the Lord and me

IF ONLY YOU'D OF HAPPENED TO ME A LONG TIME AGO
(Harlan Howard - Gene Myers)
« © '67 Tree Publishing, BMI »
If only you'd of happened to me a long time ago
There might have been a way we'd've found to make love grow
We might've found a little bitty happiness I don't know
If only you'd of happened to me a long time ago
It's kinda late for me to think of what might have been
Cause the summer's gone and it's never comin' back again
But I had so much love to offer you then
If only you'd of happened to me honey way back when
If only you'd of happened to me...
If only you'd of happened to me...

CALGARY
(Bill Anderson - Michael J. Taylor)
« © '72 Tree Publishing, BMI »
When I rolled into town it was raining
You met the bus but you brought along a friend
You introduced me to him but I guess I looked right through him
I didn't come all the way to Calgary just to see you with another man
It's a long way out here from Nova Scotia
And your new love wasn't part of my plan
But I knew from your smile you'd be with him for a while
I didn't come all the way to Calgary just to see you with another man
[ banjo - dobro ]
I guess I'll be leaving tomorrow for home
I'll try to forget you if I can
I don't stand a chance if I don't know to dance
I didn't come all the way to Calgary just to see you with another man
[ guitar ]
I didn't come all the way to Calgary just to see you with another man

GOTTA KEEP MOVING
(Steve Karliski)
« © '72 Painted Desert Music, BMI »
Sometimes I get restless Lord I hate to go home
Tired of livin' with someone and afraid of livin' alone
What an urge to be free now but I'm so used to my chains
I don't know what I want Lord I just want my life to change
And I don't want to stay in the comfort of my empty yesterdays
If I can't find some peace of mind I gotta keep moving gotta keep moving
Yes I spoke of loving but that's all I meant to say
Didn't mean forever no more that I meant a day
I was talkin' about feeling girl not possesion of my soul
But you want something more babe you want someone you can hold
And I don't want to stay...
Gotta keep moving gotta keep moving

I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT IT'S ALL OVER
(Ben Peters)
« © '72 Ben Peters Music, BMI »
(I can't believe that it's all over baby)
Not after all that we've been through
(I can't believe that you no longer love me)
I never will stop loving you
I still can't believe it when I wake up you're not here
I just wander through the house sit awhile and stare
Thinkin' about the things that I did wrong
And wonderin' what drives a man to be that way
I can't say that I'd change everything because after all I'm still just a man
The only promise that I could make it just to be the best I can
And I will do the best I can if you just come home and stay
(I can't believe that it's all over baby)
Not after all that we've been through
(I can't believe that you no longer love me)
I never will stop loving you
(I can't believe that it's all over)

LOVE'S NOT LOVE (TILL YOU GIVE IT AWAY)
(Glenn Martin - Ronnie Sessions)
« © '72 Tree Publishing, BMI »
A bell's not a bell till you ring it a song's not a song till you sing it
I believe what the wise men say love's not love till you give it away
And there's nothing like giving love to you
You're my only dream that's ever come true
The Lord made you for me to love you love you every day
Love's not love till you give it away
[ steel ]
A kite's not a kite till you fly it a bow's not a bow till you tie it
I believe what the wise men say love's not love till you give it away
And there's nothing like giving love to you...
Love's not love till you give it away

I'M JUST GONE
(Buzz Rabin)
« © '72 Careers Music, BMI »
I could count the miles between us now and say
I'm that much further from you now than I was yesteday
But even after all the roads I've traveled on
We're as close as we were then I'm just gone
Standing in the wind comparing then to now
And it seems to me I stand a little taller somehow
Though I'm in Portland Maine and you're in San Antone
We're as close as we were then I'm just gone
It's snowing here where I am today and it's freezing everything
But after doing time with you ah honey this almost feels like spring
Though I'm in Portland Maine and you're in San Antone
We're as close as we were then I'm just gone
We're as close as we've ever been I'm just gone

SUGAR IN YOUR COFFEE
(Ray Griff)
« © '72 Helene Blue Musique, ASCAP »
I came downstars and found the morning paper by my plate
A glass of orange juice waitin' there for me
I looked across the table and I saw the sweetest face
And she smiled at me and then I heard to say
Do you want sugar in your coffee honey on your toast
Or baby would you rather that I hold you close
Do you want scrambled eggs and bacon a bowl of shredded wheet
Do you want sugar in your coffee or loving warm and sweet
[ guitar ]
I watched her as she moved and knew that she was heaven sent
I lived again sweet memories in my head
I never knew real happiness or what it really meant
Until my baby turned to me and said
Do you want sugar in your coffee honey on your toast
Or baby would you rather that I hold you close
Do you want fingertips to touch you and kisses on your cheek
Do you want sugar in your coffee or loving warm and sweet
Do you want sugar in your coffee...

WATCHING IT GO
(Gene Thomas)
« © '72 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
It seems that I'm spendin' most of my life
Spendin' ten cents while I'm makin' a dime
Tryin' to make sense out of life's mixed up rhyme
Meantime I'm watching it go
Clouds in my head they keep crowding my brain
Fair weather thoughts disappear with the rain
I'm chasing rainbows that never remain helplessly watching life go
Watching it go wanting to know where do you go where you've been
[ strings ]
Poor Cinderella she's bowing her head
Tellin' some stranger what a hard life she's led
Glass slippers fast asleep under the bed sadly I'm watching her go
Prince charming dressed in disarming disguise
Flashin' his charms as he's blinding her eyes
Morning will hear him say his sunshine goodbye just the way I used to go
Watching it go wanting to know where do you go where you've been
[ strings ]
My Lord it seems I've tried so many things
Walking on crutches and calling them wings
Wondering who's pulling the puppeteer's strings hmm I'm wantin' to know
I feel so confined I keep wanting to roam looking for a life that won't be so alone
Singing in my soul Lord I want to go home knowin' I never can go
Watching it go wanting to know where do you go when you've been

COUNTRY MUSIC IN MY SOUL
(Bobby Bond)
« © '72 Acuff-Rose Music, BMI »
I been travelin' down the highways with my guitar for so long
Pickin' tunes and meetin' lots of folks
Living my life my way with a handshake and a song
Carin' little if I was rich or broke
Cause there's country music in my soul
People music for the young and the old
I'll keep on singing a song keep on keeping on
Cause there's country music in my soul
[ steel ]
Well I met a man in Illinois who came to see our show
He brought his wife and all his fourteen kids
Why he took the trouble Lord I guess I'll never know
All I know is I'm sure glad he did
Cause there's country music in my soul...
[ steel ]
When the final curtain falls and I go to meet the Lord
And he asks me what I think I'd like to do
I'll humbly request he seat people on the floor
And let ol' Bill whisper 'em all a tune
Cause there's country music in my soul...
There's country music in my soul
Pickin' and grinnin' yeah there's country music in my soul
