I've written of bad times valleys and trials
Left a few tears to mark the sad miles
But counting the good times the journey's been grand
Touring life with a traveling man

For we've been uphill and down hill like most travelers do
But each golden sunrise the journey's brand new
Just ask me tomorrow if I'd do it again

We stood at the crossroads without fear or doubt
'Cause He'd been there before me and knew the exit out
And since He'd walked on the water I just left it in His hand
Never losing direction with a traveling man

Well I won't have to chop no wood I can be bad or I can be good
I can be any way that I feel one of these days
Well I might be a woman dressed in black or be a hobo by the railroad track
But I'll be gone like the wayward wind one of these days

One of these days it will soon be all over cut and dry
And I won't feel this urge to stay all bottled up inside
One of these days I'll look back and I'll say I left in time
Cause somewhere for me I know there's peace of mind

Well I may someday walk across this land carryin' the Lord's book in my hand
Goin' cross the country singin' loud as I can one of these days
But I won't have troubles on my back cuttin' like the devil with a choppin' axe
Got to shake them off of my back one of these days

One of these days it will soon be all over cut and dry...
There's gonna be peace of mind for me one of these days

Well I said I'd rather walk in the fields He said there's work in the towns
I said there's not any flowers there He said no flowers but a crown
Then into His hand went mine into my heart came He
Now I'd walk and I'd like to find down the path I'd dare to see

Oh I'd rather be a tramp for the Lord than be a queen and wear a crown
For someday I'd just pass on and I'd have to pass it down
But when the sovereign of the king enters the kingdom of rewards
He'll wear His crown forever if he'd been a tramp for the Lord

My suitcase packed for the road I go wherever I am told
To plant the seed of God's truth down every road I'd go
Watered by the blood of the lamb and the sunshine of His love
Harvest time makes it worthwhile to be a worker for the Lord

You've got to be humble to be for God and He'll exalt you in due time
Even though you may be rich still you must be poorly lined
Yes blessed are the poor in spirit for heaven's their reward
