I'm sending you a big bouquet of roses
One for every time you broke my heart
And as the door of love between us closes
Tears will fall like petals when we part
I begged you to be different but you'll always be untrue
I'm tired of forgiving now there's nothing left to do
So I'm sending you a big bouquet of roses
One for every time you broke my heart
You made our lover's lane a road of sorrow
Till at last we had to say goodbye
You're leaving me to face each new tomorrow
With a broken heart you taught to cry
I know that I should hate you after all you've put me through
But how can I be bitter when I'm still in love with you
So I'm sending you a big bouquet of roses
One for every time you broke my heart

I traded a heart full of love for a handful of kisses
That you were just throwing away
I traded a lifetime of dreams for a few carefree moments
That you felt like wasting that day
If I had known you didn't care I wouldn't be so blue
Cause I'd have left my heart at home and played the game like you
I'm hoping that you had your fun
Cause that handful of kisses has broken my fool heart in two
[ steel ]
I gave you a love that was true for a heart that was fickle
I wish that I had known at the time
You had me fooled for a while cause I thought that you meant it
When you said that you would be mine
But now that we have said goodbye I see the light of day
I had a moment of happiness but what a price to pay
I traded a heart full of love for a handful of kisses
That you were just throwing away

How many arms have held you and hated to let you go
How many how many I wonder but I really don't want to know
How many lips have kissed you and set your soul aglow
How many how many I wonder but I really don't want to know
So always make me wonder always make me guess
And even if I ask you darling don't confess
Just let it remain your secret but darlin' I love you so
No wonder no wonder I wonder no I really don't want to know
No wonder no wonder I wonder no I really don't want to know

Anytime you're feeling lonely
Anytime you're feeling blue
Anytime you feel down hearted
That will prove your love for me is true
Anytime you're thinking bout me
That's the time I'll be thinking of you
Anytime you say you want me back again
That's the time I'll come back home to you
[ steel ]
Anytime you're thinking bout me...

If I had a nickel I know what I would do
I'd spend it all for candy and give it all to you
I'd spend it all for candy and give it all to you
Cause that's how much I love you baby that's how much I love you
Now if you were a kitten with pretty glossy fur
I'd take you up and stroke you and listen to you purr
I'd take you up and stroke you and listen to you purr
Cause that's how much I love you baby that's how much I love you
Now if you were a horsefly and I an old grey mare
I'd stand and let you bite me and never move a hair
I'd stand and let you bite me and never move a hair
Cause that's how much I love you baby that's how much I love you
[ guitar ]
Now if you were a tiger I'd hang around your den
And pester you my honey until you let me in
And pester you my honey until you let me in
Cause that's how much I love you baby that's how much I love you
Now if you wanna marry now let me tell you what
We'll go and find the parson and let him tie the knot
We'll go and find the parson and let him tie the knot
Cause that's how much I love you baby that's how much I love you

A mother went out on a party she left at home her baby son
He cried and begged her not to leave him but she would not give up her fun
She kissed his cheek and tried to soothe him but would not heed his childish plea
She heard him call as she was leaving please mommy please stay home with me
The mother joined the merry makers and soon was lost in trifling joy
The mellow tunes and flitting shadows made her forget her baby boy
She danced and laughed and did some drinking the world for her was full of glee
But now and then these words would haunt her please mommy please stay home with me
[ piano ]
She left the party feeling dizzy the smell of drink was on her breath
She hurried home to find her baby in raging pain and near in death
The doctor came and looked on sadly the case was hopeless he could see
The baby dies these words repeating please mommy please stay home with me
The mother now her life would forfeit to hear her baby's voice again
She grieves to think she rudely left him to satisfy her wishes vain
Now mothers don't neglect your duty this story should a lesson be
Do not ignore your baby's pleading please mommy please stay home with me

Makes no difference if we two are far apart dear
I could never ever love somebody new
Cause there isn't any room inside my heart dear
While I'm chained to a memory of you
I could never tell another I belong to them
All those whispered words of love would not be true
I could never tell another that I long for them
Cause I'm chained to a memory of you
[ steel ]
Maybe time will wear the links away and then dear
They will break and set me free to love a new
But I'll never care for someone else again dear
While I'm chained to a memory of you
If the world should end tomorrow I'd be satisfied
Cause you're gone and there is nothing I can do
All my dreams and precious hopes of yesterday have died
Yet I'm chained to a memory of you

I'll hold you in my heart till I can hold you in my arms
Like you'd never been held before
I'll think of you each day and then I'll dream the night away
Till you are in my arms once more
The stars up in the sky know the reason why
I feel so blue when I'm away from you
I'll hold you in my heart till I can hold you in my arms
So darling please wait for me
(Another lonely day passes and you're still far away
But here's what I'd do my darling until that wonderful day wonderful day)
I'll hold you in my heart till I can hold you in my arms
So darling please wait for me

Just a little lovin' will go a long way
And you'll make me happy the rest of my days
Put your arms around me then I'll be your slave
Cause just a little lovin' will go a long way
Ever since that time began love has ruled the world
Even Adam set the pace and started it a whirl
I met you and now I know that you're the one for me
Come on back and you will plainly see
Just a little lovin' will go a long way...
[ steel ]
Don't believe you really know how much I love you
If you did you'd come on back and make my dreams come true
Your eyes your lips your loving kisses seem to linger yet
I'll forgive but please don't you forget
That just a little lovin' will go a long way...

I walk alone where once we wandered
It seems so strange since you are gone
Till you return I'll stay the same dear
I'll still be true and walk alone
By stars above I swear to love you
With all the love I've ever known
While we're apart you'll always own me
When teardrops start I walk alone
[ piano ]
This lonely night was made to ponder
The golden hours that we once knew
No matter where you are out yonder
I walk alone and think of you
The flame of love is brightly burning
You know that I'm your very own
Each night I'll pray for your returning
But while you're gone I walk alone

I have no record now I pine
For you are all that's on my mind
I think of you both night and day
Each hour each minute you're away
Twas the days or years since you left
Oh how many hours now have passed
I know I've shed ten thousand trears
Each minute seems a million years
[ steel ]
Each night I go to bed and then
I pray that you'll come back again
When sleep won't come to drown my tears
Each minute seems a million years
Till I'm back within your arms again
And until I find the nights do end
I pine my way for you my dear
Each minute seems a million years

It's a sin my darling how I love you
Because I know our love can never be
It's a sin to keep this mem'ry of you
When silence proves that you've forgotten me
The dream I built for us has tumbled
Each promise broken like my heart
It's a sin my darling how I love you
So much in love and yet so far apart
It's a sin to hide behind this heartache
To make believe that I've found someone new
It's a sin to say that I don't miss you
When people know I'm still in love with you
I'm sure you're happy with another
Who shares the love I couldn't win
Why pretend that I can't live without you
When deep inside I know that it's a sin
