Jay Huguely - Jerry Kennedy

© Unichappell Music, BMI

Break 1-9 how bout ye Smokey Mountain Smokey got ye ears on
You got your Smoky Mountain Smokey bring it on
A 10-4 you got the one Blue Trooper
What say we pull the plug on these old picture takers
And back it on out into town for a short short
A big 10-4 on that short short Blue Trooper
Oh mercy day there Blue Trooper
Did you see that eighteen wheel hot rod
That just went by us in a gust of chicken feathers
A yeah big 10-4 on them chicken feathers
He musta been doin' a hundred for sure
Busted every tube in my picture taker I was holdin' it in my hand too
Mercy sakes that smarts flat curl your fingernails backwards
10-4 let's get the bubble gum poppin' and the hammer down
Pray for that eighteen wheeler there doin' a hundred for sure
Now you just back it down there boy we got ya

I'm the Kentucky Moonrunner 10-4 Smokey Bear
I don't stop for no slow cop not even for a pair
Cause chickens and old moonshine is a mighty heavy load
Got the hammer down on this big A-town road

Now you looky here Kentucky Moonrunner boy
You in enough trouble already goin' double double nickels
Without havin' moonshine in the bottom of that rig under them chickens
Now you pull that old eighteen wheeler over to the side
Blue Trooper give me your 20
Hey negatory there I'd let you have two fives and some loose change
Get the peanut butter out of your ears Blue Trooper I want your location
I'm eyeballin' your tail lights about half a mile behind ya
Mercy day Smoky Mountain Smokey
It's a snowing biggest flakes I ever seen
Negatory Blue Trooper that ain't snow
That's chicken feathers off that eighteen wheeler
You can always tell snow from the chicken feathers
Snow don't gum up your wiper blades sumpin' awful
Now Moonrunner boy you pull it over now

I'm the Kentucky Moonrunner 10-4 Smokey Bear
Put the hammer down to big A-town and be my rockin' chair
Cause you can't catch me no matter how you try
My moonshine holler is down and gone bye bye

Breaker Smoky Mountain Smokey
I done put out a call for reinforcements
10-4 let's get every Smokey in Tennessee after him
He's doin' a hundred and twenty for sure
We gotta stop that boy before he gets to Georgia
Ho watch out there Blue Trooper
They done comin' outta the chicken coop up here
Well negatory tell them boys to keep them rigs parked
Blue Trooper I don't mean no chicken coop boy I mean a chicken coop
He done let them chickens loose outta that rig
Ah mercy day they drunk on that moonshine
Did ya ever try to dodge three hundred jaywalking drunk New England White Rocks
Aw mercy big 10-4 on them plastic Sunday dinners they all over me
Lord a mercy now they've started layin' eggs
10-4 on them hundred proof egg yolks
You reckon these old snow treads are gonna hang on these slippery eggs
I don't know but I got a half dozen fryin' sunny side up on my hood
Blue Trooper what's your 20 now come on back
I'm the four wheel Western omelette that just passed ya
Come on breaker Moonrunner the fun's over
Now boy we got fifty-eight Smokey's thirty-six county mounties
Twelve local yokels nineteen bears in the air
Twenty-two meter maids two ballistic missiles Richard Petty Kojak
And two hundred soused White Rock chickens on your tail boy
Now you gonna back that old rig down or not
Hey we too late that old Moonrunner done crossed that Georgia line
Aw 10-4 break for a Georgia Smokey

10-4 back door
We got this old Kentucky Moonrunner on the side for sure
There he was streakin' through the Georgia night
And he done forgot about that one White Knight
Hundred and four miles over speed limit
That old boy's gonna grow old in the pokey
Come on down from that Tennessee boys and we'll do us some celebratin'
Have us some fried chicken scrambled eggs and some of that Kentucky Moonrunner tea
How 'bout it

Jay Huguely - Jerry Kennedy

(Sweet Mercy Day don't go away
I wanna say negatory on that story you heard today
Come on give me a break honey
Me and them beavers ain't been datin'
We just been doin' a little modulatin'
So bring it on back to your home 20
Mercy Day Mercy Day)

Break for a short sad story
Get your ears on to what I say
About how my life went negatory
The night I lost my sweet Mercy Day
I got home it was just about nine to find nobody there but my Beagle
Then I found this note from that better half of mine
Taped to my brown and golden eagle
To the one Kansas Cowboy you got the one Mercy Day
We found out and how boy bout all your cheatin' ways
So we're backin' it out of this home 20 and we won't be back this way
Cotton Picker that's it I took my Midland and split
7's and 3's signed your sweet Mercy Day
Well I flipped on that screamin' base said break this old 1-9 please
And with tears streamin' down my face I said
How bout ya there Mercy Day your Kansas Cowboy's on his knees
Now I don't know where you got your info at all but I guarantold ya it's a 10-74
cause you're the only beaver sends me wall to wall and there'll never be another for sure
Now if you mean that one lady Specs we ain't doin' no datin' on the sly
I just been givin' her radio checks and advisin' her on what kind of whip to buy
And if you mean that one busy beaver we ain't doin' no foolin' off the band
She just can't get her power mike to fit her receiver so I went over to give her a hand
And you could mean that one playboy's dream but Mercy I ain't foolin' with that kid
I ran by and checked her standin' wave beam and tightened the mount on her old trunk lid
And if you mean that one lady Satan it's true I stayed the night there dear
But we spent the whole time modulatin' on her side band to Canada loud and clear
Sweet Mercy I know I can't count the times I've asked you to forgive and forget
But believe me sweet seat cover you're still my one and only lover
And there ain't no beaver done stepped on your modulation yet
Negatory you still puttin' a big 10 on the meter of my heart
Come on back honey we're tryin'

(Sweet Mercy Day don't go away)
Do ya hear me honey come on back
(I wanna say negatory on that story you heard today)
I know I'm gettin' sloppy but do ya read your Poppy's copy
(Me and them peepers ain't been datin')
No way
(We just been doin' a little modulatin')
Hear what I say
(So bring it on back to your home 20
Mercy Day Mercy Day)

Mercy Day come on home honey I can't modulate without ya
Now if you're out there we're tryin'
Give me a break a radio check a 10-36 anything
Mercy mercy there's headlights in the driveway
Could it be Mercy Day answer me honey is that you
Lord all mercy it is I'd recognize them double truckers anywhere

(Me and them peepers ain't been datin'
We just been doin' a little modulatin'
So bring it on back to your home 20
Mercy Day Mercy Day)

Dad I Gotta Go

Jay Huguely - Jerry Kennedy

© Unichappell Music, BMI

Yeah on my two week holiday out of my rig and on the way
Me and the wife and the little boy with the hammer down to Illinois
Had a good front door lookin' out for bear I was doin' about eighty in the rockin' chair
Just settled down to run with the pack when I felt a finger punch my back

Dad I gotta go Dad I gotta go
So I leave the convoy to take my boy to the nearest Texaco
Thelma Jean I wish you wouldn't give that boy so much pop
I just found a good bunch of buddies to run with
Darn it's gonna take me an hour to get back to 'em
Come on son no you can't have no glow in the dark T-shirt

Back on the road with the hammer down tryin' to watch for any bears around
Callin' wall to wall on my CB break 1-9 for your Tennessee plea
Well it took me an hour to catch up for sure but then I heard the right 10-4
I was back with my pack and a runnin' fine when I heard that weak bladdered boy of mine

Dad I gotta go Dad I gotta go
So I leave the convoy to take my boy to the nearest Texaco
When we get to the home 20 we gonna have his kidney's checked
That comes from your side of the family
Oh hush now your mother's the same way
Come on son no you can't have no battery operated firecrackers

Break 1-9 for your Tennessee plea how 'bout ya shotgun you readin' me
You got the Mean Machine back on the road I wish this four wheeler had a built in commode
No come back they was gone for sure but I found me another front and back door
About the time we got the hammer down my boy leaned over with a terrible frown

Dad I gotta go Dad I gotta go
There goes another convoy while I take my boy to the nearest Texaco
Now Thelma Jean this is downright silly
If I lose this pack to run with we ain't never gonna get to Illinois
Come on son no you can't have no genuine shrunk coconut ubangya head

Break 1-9 for your beaver teaser come on back if you're up there please sir
Well he come back faint with noise I put the hammer down to get with them boys
I was so busy waitin' for another breaker I flew right past the picture taker
He said pull it over boy nice and slow I said Bear I'll meet ya at the next Texaco
Cause I gotta go I gotta go
I got the cramps there go my green stamps oh mercy day and whoa

Back on the road after postin' bail
Doin' double nickels on the Illinois trail
Turn off the CB and on the stereo
Now that I'm takin' it nice and slow
Nobody wants to go

C.B. Rock

Jay Huguely - Jerry Kennedy

Well I had a dream the other night about my high school days ya see
It was just like '59 alright 'cept everybody had a CB
Well me and my beaver were at the burger breaker sippin' on a cherry coke
When in pulled a '51 Merc with blinkers and a guy picked up his mike and spoke

How bout ya '55 Chevy got your ears on little 6
How's about we back it on out and do some draggin' just for kicks

Well I'd never modulated with this yankee before but I give him the old come back
I said negatory Merc for sure we got a 10-7 on the local track
Well I saw him snicker under his chop top then he said

10-4 clown you got the one Chicago Bop
And it appears I'm in chicken town

Well my beaver knew what that did to me she was scared I'd take on this duel
She said let's take a break out to Midnight Lake and listen to Don't Be Cruel
That seat cover was flat freaky over Elvis made me get her a blue suede orchid for the prom
I said negatory one Teen Queen this cotton picker's hurt my Chevy's pride
Now you do a 10-19 to your home 20 machine and stay listenin' on the side
You be sure to go double nickels with all them Kremlin slips on Teen Queen
Or mercy day you're liable to get airborn
How bout ya one Chicago Bop you got the Mooncap Kid
Follow me out to some lonely blacktop good buddy I'll take your bid
To period two auto mechanics by golly I dedicate this race
To the ever lovin' mem'ry of Buddy Holly I dedicate this chase
I'd also like to send this race out to Frankie from Nadine
Billy Joe to Wanda Bobby to guess who and Bruce to all the cheerleaders
Well we were lined up ready to go when I got a wall to wall shout said

Back it down we can't run show we ain't got a Smokey lookout

I said my one Teen Queen is watchin' for bear I guarantold ya she will
She's got ears in her Nash Metropolitan up there with the '56 Packard grill
Well I looked across half through the race and saw his grimace stare
The Clearasil crackin' off his face and Wildroot Cream all flyin' through the air
Break for your one Chicago Bop you can back it down for sure
To my surprise he came to a stop and gave me a big 10-4
He calmly combed his dee-ays and said
There'll be another day
His double truckers hung their head as Chicago pulled away
Well I was king at school next day you could tell it at a glance
All the guys threw a break my way and the Teen Queen sewed my handle on her pants
Least that's what her best friend Bonnie Ann told me
Well I woke up and realized it was a dream and thought that woulda been fun
To have had a big Johnson under my dash when I took my little Chevy for a run
But now guys don't race on the back side of town like they did in my rockin' school
Today you just say hammer down and every cotton picker's a racin' fool yeah cool
Don't need to hide boy get out there and drag it out with old Smokey Bear
Yeah big 10-4 on old 59 for sure
Kooky kooky lend Annette Funicello your comb there
Got the one Mooncap Kid backin' it on out with a shuma looma looma

White Knight

Jay Huguely - Jerry Kennedy

© Unichappell Music, BMI

Down 75 or 85 or I-20 to other way
Turn your squelch to the right and in the night
You'll hear some good buddy say
Breaker breaker got a picture taker on Smokies at 43
It's that Japanese toy that trucker's joy that everybody calls CB
Yeah citizen's band
Keeps you up to date with the fender benders and the Tijuana taxi's
And all them bears out there
Flip flop

Now ahead of your children and ahead of your wife
On the list of the ten best things in life
Your CB's gotta rate right around number four
Course beavers and hot biscuits and Merle Haggard come one two three ya know

Well I was loaded down comin' outta Lake City
I was checkin' out seat covers young and pretty
When all of a sudden there come a call over my CB ringin' wall to wall
Said go to double nickels as you hit the ridge
cause there's a Smokey picture taker to the other side of the bridge
Oh mercy 'preciate that good buddy
Uh what's your handle there come on
Got any county mounties out there prowlin' come on
And he said

10-4 back door put the pedal to the metal and let it roar
Hammer down to Macon town gonna see my Mama sure
Well the bears are gone let's bring it on the Georgia line's outta sight
Pulled outta Richmond town last Saturday night
And my handle is the White Knight
How 'bout it

All right White Knight hammer down you got the Mean Machine here
Well there I was a streakin' my needle was a peakin' right around seventy-nine
That old diesel juice was a gettin' loose and everything was fine
When wall to wall I got a call from a front door big bear trapper
Said break 1-9 good buddy of mine you got a Smokey in a plain white wrapper
Well I jammed my stick and lost twenty quick you could hear them gears a tappin'
I got passed by a beaver in a Camaro and I was cruisin' along and goin' so slow
I could count every button on that frilly blouse she was a wearin'
Of course there weren't but one
Hey there Super Trooper yeah that's the crafty Smokey over there with a CB of his own
Hey White Knight let's slide one off the Super Trooper
Come on

10-4 back door put the pedal to the metal whatcha waitin' for
If that old white can't stay in sight gonna leave ya here and say no more
How 'bout it

Whoa now old buddy that's fightin' talk I'll get up there and blow your doors off
Well I hammered down like I had wings
Little gravels in my wheels goin' ping ping ping
About the time I hit ninety-two I saw something flashin' in my rear view
Thought to myself that can't be true but there it was a goin' blue blue blue
Uh oh bubblegum machine done hit the jackpot
Well I could see that bear a laughing big hangin' in tight on the back of my rig
And right there and then it come to me wall to wall mhm hm
So in that cold dark Georgia night in the shadow of Smokey Bear's blue light
I decided to make me just one more CB call
Break 1-9 for the Super Trooper hey there Smokey old buddy
Tell me if I'm right are you my front door are you the White Knight come on
And he said

10-4 back door you in a heap of trouble boy for sure
Gonna read you your rights and treat ya fair
Just pull over there with your rockin' chair
Want you boys to know each other real well
Cause you gonna be sharing the same jail cell
You make twelve cotton pickers I've caught tonight
Runnin' front door as that White Knight
How 'bout it
Forty miles over the speed limit you boys gonna be here a spell

That's it cotton pickers I'd done been grounded
My tail in jail and my rig impounded
So when you're comin' through the Georgia night
Don't never get no front door called the White Knight
No sir wind up in the pokey with Smokey
I'm gonna pull that ol' CB thing out by the wires
I don't care if it is a Johnson

Who We Got On Thet End (You're The Only Friend I Got)

Jay Huguely - Jerry Kennedy

© Unichappell Music, BMI

Well you got the old Spiderman here anybody readin' copy on this mobile come on
Well me and the wife had a little fallin' out
And I was kinda tired and she started to shout
So I picked up the mashed potatoes and I squashed 'em in her face
She sputtered and said I was a disgrace to the human race so I buttered her face
She grabbed the kids and took off like a shell
Probably downtown runnin' up a big bill in some motel oh well
Who we got on that end you're the only friend I got

Well I waited and I waited for my tax rebate
Along about August I decided it was gettin' late
So I called the tax man and I said how long ya gonna keep me waitin'
He said good buddy you're one of them cotton pickers we're investigatin'
Well it turned out I owed 'em just about every way
Cost me all my savin's and six months pay
Got a letter from the family just the other day
My single sister's pregnant and my little brother's gay
What can I say 'cept who we got on that end you're the only friend I got

How 'bout ya there eastbound eighteen wheeler got your ears on I guess not
Break how 'bout a 20 on that Smokey what was rollin' at the marker road exit anybody seen him
Come on yeah maybe if I just turn my squelch here a little bit break for a westbound there
Old Spiderman make a good front door up there in this old eighteen wheeler
How 'bout it hmm mighty quiet tonight
That's too bad cause whoever's on that end you're the only friend I got

Well I had a date with Imogene works down at the Truck 'Em Up
Nice girl there real clean I pulled in on time in my big eighteen and said anybody seen Imogene
They said Spiderman she left about an hour ago and she left ya this note so's you'd know
Well I opened the note and the note it said I'm alive and Spiderman you're dead
And who we got on that end you're the only friend I got
How 'bout it

Cledus' C.B. Lingo Dictionary

Jay Huguely - Jerry Kennedy

© Unichappell Music, BMI

Good buddies these days everybody and their little beaver's gettin' theirselves an old CB
And the only way to use it right is to get your license and learn the CB lingo
So here we go for a short short course

Smokey Bear
Now that's them old boys what work for the state and drive them old high-powered machines
And if the machines got the state's name on the side it's a Tijuana Taxi
Or then again it may not have the state's name on the side
In which case it's a plain white wrapper plain gray wrapper plain green wrapper or plain blue wrapper
And then they take your Green Stamps which is your hard earned money
When they get ya on the old Picture Taker
And that's what ya call the old radar otherwise known as Takin' Polaroids
That's when you're goin' more than Double Nickels
That's that old fifty-five mile an hour speed limit
And them's them same old boys what help ya when you get yourself into a Fender Bender that's a wreck
And they generally found around exit ramps medians and the nearest long hot cup of coffee
And short name of the State Police
County Mountie
Same as ol' Smokey Bear 'ceptin they drive for the sheriff
Local Yokel
Same as ol' Smokey Bear and ol' County Mountie 'ceptin they drive for the mayor
Beavers that's women
Seat Covers that's women
Women that's women
Better half or XYF that's women
'Ceptin' these is them ones what used to be the beaver and or seat cover
What you used to count every button on that frilly blouse she was a wearin'
And is now the mother of your young'uns and the picture taker
What checks you done retired from countin' buttons off frilly blouses of other beavers and or seat covers
Cotton Picker
Now that means your best buddy your worst enemy
Somebody you know somebody you don't know
Somebody you like somebody you don't like
Somebody you want to compliment somebody you want to insult
Somebody who done ya a favor somebody who done ya wrong
Or somebody who picks cotton
Break
Means I wanna talk boy
Go Break
Means alright boy talk
10-36
Now that's the call for the time of day but don't just sit there and say how 'bout it 10-36
Cause all them CB'ers will know you just got your set and ain't got nothin' to say
Other expressions to avoid to keep from bein' known as an amateur are
Break for radio check
What's happenin' out there good buddy
Whatcha doin' out there good buddy
Somebody talk to me
Roger
Wilco
And Break for a truck
10-20
Is your location
Home 20
That's your 10-20 when you're home
Bubblegum Machine
Hey that's that old light on top of Smokey's car that goes blue blue blue blue
Whip's an antenna
A Redneck Whip's
A big long antenna goes twangy twangy twangy all the time
Hammer Down
Means I done goin' as fast as I can cause I got the pedal to the metal
How's it look over your shoulder
Now that's what you say to somebody goin' the way you ain't
It means what's back there where you done been
An 18-Wheeler's a big rig
A 4-Wheeler's anything with four wheels cars baby carriages anything
2-Wheeler's are motorcycles and bicycles
A Pick'em Up Truck is a pickup truck
A Thermos Bottle is a tanker truck
A Mobil Parkin' Lot is 18-wheelers that hauls 4-wheelers
And a Van cotton picker is a van
Come On
Now that's what you say when you said what you wanna say
And you want somebody to say somethin' back to ya
Come On Back on that
Means I wish you'd say that again cause I don't know what you're talkin' about
Gettin' Stepped On
Now that's where there's too many cotton pickers on the channel
And everybody's talkin' at the same time you can't understand nobody it's a mess of noise
Modulatin' and Jaw Jackin'
Is a havin' a conversation
Handle
Now that's that old name that you pick out to call yourself on the channel as in
My handle is the White Knight
10-4
Means I read ya I agree if you say so I think so I know so
If you say so I'm with you you done took the words right out of my mouth
Ain't that somethin' maybe definitely affirmative yes sirree yes indeed
You said it boy hey hey hey and every which
4-10 and 10-Roger
Are alternatives to 10-4 on such occasions that
10-4 do not seem to capture the complete meanin' of what you was tryin' to say
Negatory
Is the opposite of all of the above in short no
A Short Short is the opposite of a Long Long
Now here's a big'un that I left for towards the last
cause it's one of the most important you'll ever use I guarantold ya
Mercy Day
Under all circumstances means mercy day
We Gonna Back It On Out
That's the way of sayin' so long I'm gonna quit talkin' I'll see ya later
Keep It Between The Ditches
That means the same
Meet Ya On The Flip-Flop
That means the same
7's and 3's And All Them Good Numbers To Ya
That means the same
8's and 6's And All Them Good Numbers To Ya
That means the same
You Have Yourself A Good Day Today And A Better Day Tomorrow
That means the same
Keep The Shiny Side Up And The Dirty Side Down
That means the same
We Down And Gone
That means the same
We Catch Ya Later
That means the same
As a matter of fact you can use all of the above together or one at a time
So we gonna back it on out you keep it between the ditches
7's and 3's and all them good numbers to ya 8's and 6's and all them good numbers to ya
You have yourself a good day today and a better day tomorrow
Keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down
We definitely down and gone we catch ya later for sure
Now go breakers

Oh mercy day negatory Father Of His Country I can't help ya much
You're a long way from Philadelphia town
But your standing wave is good you're puttin' about a 7 on me here come on
Appreciate that radio check
Well all the pleasure is definitely on this end Father Of His Country
You keep it between the British and we'll be eye-ballin' ya on those old green stamps for sure

Hey yeah mercy day there Patrick we definitely know what ya mean for sure
Course when we sign that Declaration we gonna flat make ourselves some trouble
The British'll definitely get the bubblegum goin' for us how 'bout it
Hey 10-4 but mercy sakes we ain' got no choice
I'm tired of sending all my hard earned green stamps to the British
This taxation without modulation's got us hot boy come on back
Hey big 10-4 give me a clear channel or give me death
But you know all them Tories are gonna call us traitors
So if we ain't gonna be called Tories no more we gonna have to have somethin' to call ourselves
Whatta ya call a Tory that ain't a Tory no more
Yeah 10-4 that'd be a negatory boy a negatory

Yeah they coulda used that old CB in that revolutionary century
And a bit later on that citizens band woulda come in handy at Custer's Last Stand

How 'bout that for hopeful there southbound you got them ears on come on
Go break this is your lucky day you got the one and only South Dakota Sunshine
With the paddle to the saddle and the hammer down southbound bring it on
Ah 10-4 you got the one Foolhardy Indian Fighter here

I'll be in there in a short short
Negatory this is important I've invented the telephone
Well a 10-4 what's it do
It lets you talk long distance
Well a big 10-4 where are ya
I'm in the next room
The next room boy I can do that with a couple of walkie talkies
And I don't need no noise or ring-a-ling bell neither
Well I thought the bell was kind of cute
I mean that's my name and it goes ding-a-ling
Oh forget it Graham you ain't gonna replace CB's with that thing
Work on something constructive like a good power mike

Yeah them ol' boys woulda had 'em a time
Wall to wall on this ol' 1-9
So let's give 'em a hand for this land of the free
Life liberty and your old CB
cause you got the right to modulate all night and never be told what to say
So a big 10-4 on them patriots for sure and what they gave us to enjoy mercy day
7's and 6's and all them good numbers to ya
You keep it between the oceans
And you have yourself a good two hundred today and a better two hundred tomorrow
10-4 on the old USA
