Lonely arms don't need temptation
When they yearn constantly
I don't need much sweet persuasion
I'm persuaded easily
I'm so easily persuaded
When you insist what can I do
I'm so easily persuaded
I can't resist lovin' you
[ piano ]
Just touch me and I'm yours completely
But it hurts when you tease
So love me so that no other
Will persuade me easily
I'm so easily persuaded...

Would you look at what came down the road today
Wanting me to be one more mistake to make
A bridge to burn to get to someone new
Pass me by if you're only passing through
You sure look like the travelin' kind to me
Don't stop if this ain't where you want to be
I don't know what you think you've run into
Pass me by if you're only passing through
[ steel ]
Now I'm not gonna be a steppin' stone
Among the other hearts that you've walked on
Lord help me if I fall in love with you
Pass me by if you're only passing through
Pass me by if you're only passing through

Love puts the blush in your smile
And love is always in style
Love puts the stars in your eyes
Love is so hard to disguise
Love cures hate and bitterness
And love gives you courage from distress
Like a wave that keeps lookin' for the shore
Love is the look you're lookin' for
Love can beautify and love can satisfy
Love should always be your guide
Love is happiness and love is faithfulness
True love needs no place to hide
Love for joy will make you cry
And love will never ever die
Love won't deny rich or poor
Love is the look you're lookin' for
Yes love is the look you're lookin' for
True love is the look you're lookin' for

Don't be careless with your darlin'
If you love him don't let him down
If you're faithful he won't leave you
Lost and wasted the way I am
Walk softly on the bridges that you're crossin'
Don't break his heart then cry cause it won't mend
Be careful not to slam the door behind you
You may want to knock upon his door again
[ guitar - steel ]
When temptation flirts and whispers
Come and taste my lips they're sweet as wine
If you weaken then you'll be cheatin'
On your own heart like I did mine
Walk softly on the bridges that you're crossin'...
You may want to knock upon his door again

Makin' heartaches you're that kind of guy
You'll keep on makin' heartaches I can tell
I shouldn't have to wonder where you are tonight
You said you'd always be here by my side
They gave me warnings that you wouldn't do me right
That long ago the goodness in you died
Makin' heartaches endin' someone's world
That's the one thing that you do so well
Makin' heartaches you're that kind of guy
You'll keep on makin' heartaches I can tell
[ steel ]
My heartaches never really seem to bother you
You've caused so many girls to go astray
And though I know to leave you is the thing to do
Just like the others I can't walk away
Makin' heartaches you're that kind of guy
You'll keep on makin' heartaches I can tell

All it says is Joseph Simpson born May 5th in 1910
Died October 12th in 1968 and then
Below in little letters simply may he dwell above
But it dosen't say he was my only love
It doesn't say when we were kids we raced from his house to the gin
That he faked a fall so I could pass when he saw he would win
It doesn't say he gave me answers on the tests we had in school
Though I vowed I'd studied hard it doesn't say he wasn't fooled
It doesn't say we slipped away to be together in our teens
Or that we laughed and dreamed about a thousand silly things
It doesn't say he understood throughout my fling with Billy Black
And that he held me close but never spoke when I came back
It doesn't say he beamed with happiness the day he made me his
And possessed a hidden strength as strong as any mountain is
It doesn't say his very presence changed our house into a home
Or that together we faced problems that I couldn't have alone
It doesn't say that he was strong enough in faith to make me see
That God was big enough to handle things that trouble me
While waiting for God's help Joe soothed my ev'ry hurt somehow
It doesn't say I loved him then and I still miss him even now
All it says is Joseph Simpson born May 5th in 1910...

Some men grow up to be half child
Their mind half grown their soul half wild
Runnin' around ev'ry day wastin' their time away
And though their woman still tags along they're gonna do her wrong
But my man knows just where he stands
His love is sure cause he knows he's a full grown man
He knows where he's been and he knows where he's goin'
And I'm goin' with him yes I'm goin' with him
There's a full grown man here in my house
He's a king and he don't need a crown to show it
There's a full grown man here in my house
He loves me more than life and lets me know it
[ steel ]
There's a full grown man here in my house...

You lay so easy on my mind oh so easy on my mind
Whenever I need you all I have to do is close my eyes
You lay so easy on my mind yes so easy on my mind
Wrap me in your warmness and let me feel your body touchin' mine
Ev'rything you say and do finds me wanting more of you
And each moment brings to life a mental dream
Heaven's somethin' real it's somethin' I can feel
When I feel your angel touch all over me
You lay so easy on my mind yes so easy on my mind
Oh there's not a part of me that your sweet love don't reach to satisfy
[ steel ]
Ev'ry day I need you more you're the one I'm living for
And the best you'll ever give you've given me
You completely satisfy ev'ry need I have inside
And I pray you'll never take your love from me
You lay so easy on my mind oh so easy on my mind
There's not a part of me that your sweet love don't reach to satisfy
Oh there's not a part of me that your sweet love don't reach to satisfy

I wish I had button eyes and a red felt nose
A shaggy cotton skin and just one set of clothes
Sittin' on a shelf in a local department store
With no dreams to dream and nothin' to be sorry for
I wish I was a Teddy Bear
Not livin' nor lovin' nor goin' nowhere
I wish I was a Teddy Bear
And I'm wishin' that I hadn't fallen in love with you
I wish I had a wooden heart and a sawdust mind
Then your mem'ry wouldn't come around to hurtin' all the time
I'd have a sewed on smile and a painted twinkle in my eye
And I never would've ever had to learn how to cry
I wish I was a Teddy Bear...
[ steel ]
I wish I had a string you could pull to make me say
Hi I'm Teddy ain't it a lovely day
Then I'd know ev'rytime I've spoke the words were right
And no one would know the mess I made of my life
I wish I was a Teddy Bear...
And I'm wishin' I hadn't fallen in love with you

I just returned from loving you again
And I know how much I'll have to pay
I just got back from losing you again
And I cried ev'ry step of the way
I just returned from fallin' apart again
While you brushed me aside so many ways
I just got back from where I've been before
And I hurt ev'ry step of the way
[ steel ]
I just return from fallin' apart again...
Yes I hurt ev'ry step of the way

I love you more and more ev'ry day
They said our love was just devotion
That time would slowly fade away
But time's just deepen my emotion
I love you more and more ev'ry day
The day you made those tender vows beside me
My joy was more than words could ever say
And darlin' still it grows and grows inside me
I love you more and more ev'ry day
[ steel ]
I love you more and more ev'ry day
The day you made those tender vows beside me...
I love you more and more ev'ry day
